Pepsico in collaboration with Beyond Meats created a JV named PLANeT Partnership that will

produce and develop as well as market to develop, produce, and market snacks and beverages made
from plant-based protein in order to near its (Pepsico’s) gola of achieving net zero by 2030 via
incorporating sustainability in day to day operations.

Pepsico has made this announcement in addition to the other iintiatives made this year towards
climate change and exclusive partnership with Aldar

Fund allocated: $2 billion

Goal – Carbon Neutral by 2040 and create a more sustainable food system

Issues: the goals set apart are vague and manufacturing facilities for the same are still not in place.
Moreover the initiative is more on the outlook from beating the fast food commercials with the
perspective of bringing cleaner food on the shelves and attracting the crowd on the basis of this
poijnt of differentiation but this intiative is estimated to just reduce Carbon footprint and GHG
emissions of Pepsico by around 0.9% which is very less as compared to what pepsico’s contribution.

Hope – The entire gamut of programs being undrrtaken by Pepsico this year give a hope of some
sustainability in fmcgs this year.
