MONTE CARLO SIMULATION

Little Boy and Fatman were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki resp.

Among different towns and cities of Japan. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not the densely populated
ones, Tokyo was the one densely populated. Then why they were chosen? Answer- Hiroshima and
Nagasaki because: Tokyo is closer to the coast + Tokyo is not surrounded by mountains, dropping of
nuclear bomb has to serve lot of purposes one was to stop war and second, until then such sort of a
weapon didn’t exist so no one knew how powerful was the nuclear bomb (computer only
approximates) so they (americans) were looking for a testbelt. Third reason was to send a purpose
to entire world entire Russia that this will happen to you if you attack us

When to use Monte Carlo Sim

- When real life system will lead to life/property loss

- - Real life systems can’t be modelled mathematically/analytically (Queing systems are
modellable so no simulation. But aircraft ops at a new airport can’t be modelled)
