ROAD SAFETY ESSAY

In a survey conducted by the commission of transport it is revealed that drivers in the 17-

25 age group are responsible for causing the majority of these accidents and has therefore

appointed me, a road safety officer with the duty of educating the audience about road safety. In

an effort to do this I will be creating a slogan, stating and justifying road safety tip and also I will

be using e two strategies to accomplish this, giving justification for each.

The slogan under which my presentation will be focused is “Think and Drive” this was

formed from the former slogan “don’t drink and drive” and it seeks to bring into recognition that

drunk driving isn’t the only cause for crashes, it is also the lack of proper judgment and

analyzing in driving situations even when a person is fully sober.

Road safety pertains to the measures taken to reduce the risk of road traffic injuries and

death. And, in order for these to be effective the rules implemented have to be followed by all

individuals regardless of their ages. Two of these tips that I believe have utmost importance are;

the wearing of seatbelt. This I believe is one of the easiest and most effective ways to remain

safe while in a vehicle, because it not only prevents you from getting a ticket from road

authorities it also aids in drawing out the presentation of you death certificate. Secondly,

adhering to the required speed limits is another simple and straightforward way in preventing

accidents, this is because a person who is following the speed limit are more prone to making

better decisions if they are encountering a bad driver. And, it also is a smart way of “thinking”

while driving.

Over the course of several years bikes riders have made their way to almost the top of the

list in regards to road fatalities. And, I believe this is due to the fact that enough emphasis isn’t

place on them in regards to road safety rules and why they should follow them. Two strategies
that I will be using to educate these individuals are; using PowerPoint presentations; I will give

information on road safety and with statistical numbers and imagery of individuals who have

either died due to their insubordination towards these rules. Secondly, I will be bringing in a

survivor a accident who will talk to these individuals about it has changed his/her life in a effort

to persuade these individuals to adhere to the road safety guidelines.

Road safety is a major problem in today’s society and our young person are the one who

ever so often the ones are losing their live because of their insubordination towards those rules. It

is my hope that with this presentation I was able to convince them of how there subliminal

actions are plaguing our world today, and has therefore convinced them “think and drive” when

using our roadways.
