To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Christine (Christy) Haley as she begins the next chapter in
what can only be described as an extraordinary career. I have known Christy for many years and am confident that her expertise,
character, passion for students and leadership will serve you well. I will make an attempt in this brief letter to share why I believe
Christy is a highly qualified candidate and a future leader in education.

First and foremost, Christy is an exceptional ELA teacher who is beloved by her students. Since 2006, she has taught all levels of
ELA including working with both Advanced Placement and at-risk students, and effectively co-teaching with a special education
teacher. She has served as the WHS ELA department chair since 2011, and effectively led our site’s transition to the Common Core
State Standards (CCSS). Additionally, she has served as the PLC lead for multiple courses, playing a significant role in the
development of curriculum and instruction at WHS. Through her leadership roles, Christy has created and sustained effective
collaboration in her groups, and championed a classroom that is highly differentiated and student centered. I can confidently say
that our literacy instruction has improved in all ELA classrooms at Woodbridge High School because of Christy’s efforts and
leadership. All of these factors contributed to Christy being recognized as the 2014-2015 IUSD High School Teacher of the Year, an
honor limited to a select and prestigious group of teachers throughout the district’s history.

Christy’s leadership also goes beyond our ELA department. Starting as a WASC Focus Group leader in 2009, Christy served as the
WASC Self Study and Visit Coordinator for Woodbridge High School’s 2013 and 2020 accreditation visits, and led the staff through
the 2017 mid-cycle review. This expertise led her to serve on multiple WASC visiting committees at a diverse group of schools
around Southern California. After WHS decided to change its bell schedule in 2017, Christy was selected as one of five staff
members to lead an Instructional Transition Team, to best support staff as they moved to a block schedule. In this role, Christy
helped effectively develop best practices in all classrooms, regardless of the discipline. This process made it very clear that the
entire WHS staff recognized Christy’s expertise, and trusted her as an instructional and school wide leader.

Christy’s exceptional site leadership has also resulted in her being selected for an array of district leadership roles. She has been
selected multiple times to develop and provide professional development for district staff, and served as an IUSD Literacy Mentor
in 2016-2017, supporting the implementation of the CCSS, modeling instruction, and coaching teachers. Christy served on the
district committee that selected our newly identified instructional resources and, in her role of IUSD High School Teacher of the
Year, sat on the IUSD Educational Advisory Committee as the high school teacher representative. In each of these roles, Christy’s
intellect and personality have impressed everyone involved, and resulted in her being considered a true teacher leader for the
Irvine Unified School District.

Beneath the expertise and leadership experience lays Christy’s greatest strength, her character. Christy has a passion and desire to
support student learning at a level found in very few educators. She is honest, reliable, trustworthy and caring. Christy builds
relationships not because it is necessary, but because she values others and sees true worth in empathy. It is not uncommon to see
Christy sitting with the most at-risk students on campus, committing fully to supporting them and making them believe in their
inevitable success. With grace, passion and professionalism Christy has served as a model for student advocacy and compassion for
everyone on the Woodbridge High School campus. She is innately qualified for an even larger leadership role.

Christy Haley has my full endorsement as she pursues a career in administration and leadership. She is an exceptional person and I
recommend her without hesitation for this or any leadership position. Please contact me if you need any additional information.
