Ths leadership positon has prepared Chrsty in a variety of ways forthe work ofa ‘school administrator. Christy has developed skis through facilitating large and small group meetings with the department, represented the department in a variety of district committes, developed the department master ‘schedule, and fostered teacher growtn, development. and professionalism. Christy serves asa key contributor to district curicular decsions in English, and helped the department avigate @ new textbook adoption In the 2018 and 2019 schoo! years, The department wilingy took on this task under Christ's leadership, and continues to explore ways to ensure students receive a comprehensive and engaging program in Engish Language Arts al Woodbridge. The department has also elminated all non- college preparatory English classes and mainstreamed as many students wit cisables inte thelr courses as possible. In adlton to her leadership role inthe department, Christy has also served in a varity of otter leadership ‘oles forthe school and district. She is an innovative and dynamic teacher thatthe district often turns to for offering professional development and taining, as well as serving as a cuticulum expert in avisory ‘committees. (One of Christy's largest roles of leadership has been through WASC. As most high school educators know, the WASC process isa schoolwide, al-encompassing set-evaiuation that requires an excellent coordinator. This teacher-leader isa crucial component in the success of the self-study report and vist. Christy first served as a Focus Group leade” fr the self-study and viet for WHS in 2009, In 2018 she was one of our school's study coordinators. When our mid-cycle report and visit was coming up in 2018, Christy was a natural ft for leading our echod through this process. {was able to observe Christy’ leadership frst hand wit the mid-cycle report as she gattered information from the various departments and stakeholders at WHS and ensured the report was an accurate and honest reflection ofthe current state and potential growth of our school In the 2018-2019 school year, Woodbridge High Schoo! implemented a block schedule. This rew schedule was a significant shift from the traditional, sx period a day schedule since the schoo’ inception, Christy ‘served a8 a key rrember ofthe Instructional Transition Team with me, ensuring our teaching staff received ‘suppot, professional development, and resources to guide them through the shift to 85-minule block periods, ‘She created a ‘tip ofthe week’ and sent it out tothe staf. She also colaorated with other teacher-leaders to ‘dentify and target areas of support and provide guidance in lesson design and planning to ensure student fengagement remsined at the core of our instructional model, Christy is also an aducator that exemplifies the idea of serving as a Melong learner. She is constanty seeking ways to grow and adapt her teaching practices to her siudents, and actively works fo ensure her c'ass is a dynamic, engaging enviconment forall students. She is completing her administrative eredental program currently, and I ar confident she wil transfer the skils necessary to be an outstanding teacher to being an equally successful administrator.
