CANVA

Canva is a free and simple graphic design tool that can be used to create designs and resumes for work and for
businesses. It is completely free, you do not need any design skills or to purchase any template.

Ingredients
PC or MAC

Directions
1. Open google chrome or safari (whichever you use) and type Canva.com
2. Sign in if you have an account or sign up to create a new one
3. On the dashboard click create a design
4. Choose a Resume format
5. On the left there are several templates, choose one
6. Click on the header to edit your name
7. Add your image by clicking on the upload button on the left side, once picture is uploaded click
on the image. It will appear on your screen. Reduce the size of the image according to your
preference. You can also change the background color and customize it to your liking.
8. If you don’t want to put your image you can choose the elements option from the left side and
add your favorite icons.
9. If you have your resume ready on word, you start copy and paste the resume into the template.
10. Start editing from personal profile intro, then add skills, core competencies and education.
11. Leave enough margin between texts and paragraphs so it is clear to see.
12. You can also drag the text box whichever way you prefer.
 13. Make sure you type your correct contact information in case the company wants to contact you
for other information details.
14. After you complete your resume, on the top right side there is an arrow option for download. Go
ahead and click on the download. Download in a PDF Print version as suggested.

Example
Type Canva.com and sign in if you have an account with canva, if you don’t have an account you can always
sign up and create an account. You can also sign in with your Facebook or google account. Once you sign in
you will see the dashboard where it says create a design. Below that title click on the resume. After clicking on
Resume, on the left side you will see many stunning templates to choose from. When picking your template, I
recommend that you choose a template that speaks to you and reflects your personality and is also suitable for
the type of job that you are applying for. If you are applying for a company you can choose corporate resume
template options, if you are an actor you can choose the template specially designed for actor resume and this
way you have many other template options from photographers resume to graphic design resume templates.
Since my background education is mostly in business I will choose the professional resume template. Make
sure the template has everything you need to create a resume. After choosing the template of your choice, start
editing the text. I would recommend that you have your resume ready on Microsoft word so you can simply
copy and paste the text into the template. And if you don’t have your resume ready you can always create a
resume from the scratch using the template on Canva.
