Introduction
The pandemic sweeping the world, COVID-19, has rendered a large proportion of the
workforce unable to commute to work, as to mitigate the spread of the virus. This has
resulted in both employers and employees seeking alternative work arrangements,
especially in a fast-paced metropolitan like Bangladesh, China,America,Hong Kong. Due
to the pandemic, most if not all workers experienced work from home (WFH).
Hence WFH has become a policy priority for most governments. In doing so, the policies

Adopting the new normal :
The rise of remote work brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic has spurred faster
adoption of employee monitoring software by companies who want to boost productivity
and keep an eye on Work From Home employees.
In the midst of a pandemic that’s led to unprecedented levels of remote working, digital
tools to monitor employees in real time are gaining popularity among companies looking
for new ways to track employee productivity. At the same time, the trend raises concerns
about employee privacy and how far companies should be allowed to go to keep tabs on
their workers.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has resulted in changes to
the working arrangements of millions of employees who are now
based at home and may continue to work at home, in some
capacity, for the foreseeable future. Decisions on how to promote
employees’ health whilst working at home (WAH) need to be based
on the best available evidence to optimise worker outcomes. The
Mental and aim of this rapid review was to review the impact of WAH on
individual workers’ mental and physical health, and determine any
physical health gender difference, to develop recommendations for employers and
z employees to optimise workers’ health.
effects of working
at home The health/work relationship is complex and requires consideration
of broader system factors to optimise the effects of WAH on
workers’ health. It is likely mandated WAH will continue to some
degree for the foreseeable future; organisations will need to
implement formalised WAH policies that consider work-home
boundary management support, role clarity, workload, performance
indicators, technical support, facilitation of co-worker networking,
and training for managers.
Between socializing, parenting, running errands, and
working, the coronavirus has significantly altered
the way we live our lives. For many people, the
public health crisis has meant a sudden shift to
remote work environments as officials stress the
importance of social distancing.
Solutions to overcome
the challenges
While there are certainly benefits to working from
home, the transition can be difficult and finding
balance within your life can become more
complicated. If COVID-19 has left you feeling
burnt out, overworked, and stressed, here are some
ways you can manage your work-from-home
environment to create a better work-life
balance.

Research make it evident that the once desired, highly
favorable, WFH has not proved to be one of the best
options for majority workforce. Interest in WFH remains,
but not in its current form. Better guidelines and policies
from the government should be in place to properly
regulate and make WFH feasible. One area of policy
where planning and implementation is an absolute
necessity is guidance into adapting to remote online

z guidance, of how to do so. Workers are unaware about
what WFH entails and lack resources required for this
change, like software, access to official documents and
proper working space. Proper training is required if this
practice is to be a feasible option or the new normal.
Possibly the working balance will be visible post-
pandemic when WFH is not a forced mandate, rather a
flexible option.
