1 Maintenance Shop Safety Foot injuries Workers must wear CSA approved footwear at all times

glasses or goggles is mandatory while operating this equipment.
Hearing protection may be required, depending on operation, and
shop noise levels. Wear clothes that fit tightly about the body.
Never wear exposed neckwear, bracelets, rings or similar articles.
Medical bracelets should be fastened tightly to the wrist. Never wear
gloves while operating this equipment. Clean and oil equipment after
use, wear protective gloves during clean-up. Long hair to be tied
back.
3 Use of pedestal and bench Potential eye injuries, high noise level Visually inspect grinding wheel for chips and wear. Adjust tool rest to
grinders maintain 1/16" clearance between wheel and rest. Ensure safety
guard is in place before start-up. The use of a face shield and
hearing protection is mandatory while operating this equipment.
Brush debris off grinder after use.

4 Use of Parts Washer Potential eye injury and skin irritation Visually inspect equipment before use for broken or worn parts.
Ensure protective gloves have no cuts or holes in them. Use a
protective apron. Know hazards of cleaning fluid. (Refer to "WHMIS"
data sheets). Splash goggles are mandatory while operating this
equipment. Rinse parts in hot water after washing in parts washer.
Blow parts dry with compressed air (Max. Pressure 30 PSI.), wearing
protective glove and goggles. Parts may now be handled with bare
hands.
4 Changing of fluid for Parts Potential hazard (irritation) to eyes and Ensure use of splash goggles and gloves are mandatory and use of

Store used cleaning fluid in hazardous waste drum for future
removal.
5 Sand Blaster Potential eye injury and skin injury Inspect machine for broken or worn parts. Ensure protective gloves
have no cracks or holes in them. Ensure cabinet door seal is in good
condition. Ensure viewing glass is in good condition. When changing
blasting pellets, the worker must wear an approved dust respirator
and safety glasses. When required, the air filter will be taken to a
"Dry Cleaner" for cleaning.
