‫دونوں کو ادھورا چھوڑ دیا‬

Reference to the context;

These lines have been taken from the poem “I Made Some
Love; I Did Some Work”, by Faiz Ahmad Faiz, one of the
pillars of Urdu Literature.
This poem reveals a conflict between the heart and mind of
the poet and considers those people fortunate and privileged
who either love their work or consider love as their work .

Explanation;
In the given lines, Faiz Ahmad Faiz reveals the unfortunate
conflict between his heart and mind which has become too
much to handle as both keep intertwining with each other,
and as the conflict reaches its peak, it forces Faiz Ahmad Faiz
to leave both unfinished. So, he ends up to be in a confused
mind in achieving nothing.
Comments/Opinion
There is a figure of speech “jack of all trades, master of
none”, which is used in reference to a person who has
dabbled in many skills, rather than gaining expertise by
focusing on one. Same as the case here. In my opinion
gaining expertise by focusing one thing is far better than
dabbling in many skills. Because, at the end you will end up in
achieving nothing. So, there is no such things which is pity, no
matter if it’s a love, work, or something else. All we need to
do is to be passionate, consistent, and to be focused.
