Methodology:

This chapter explains research methodology of the study, analysis process, and
other necessary procedures including the worldview, research method, data
collection tools and method of data analysis.

This study will concentrate on analyzing the use of literary devices including
allegory, symbolism, and personification, in both novels. Moreover, the selected
novels will be compared by the researchers in terms of the philosophical, social,
and political circumstances in which each novel was written. Furthermore, the
study will compare and contrast the various themes of the novels.

Sample of the study:

The sample of the study consists of two novels, the first one is Animal Farm
written by George Orwell and the second one is Frankenstein written by Marry
Shelly.

Worldview and Design of the Study

A worldview is a basic set of beliefs that guide actions (Guba, 1990, P.17). It is also
called as Paradigm (Linton, Lyham, and Guba 2011; Martens, 2010). Thus, we see
worldview as a general philosophical orientation about the world and the nature
of research. The researchers will adopt the Constructivist Worldview for
conducting the study (reason).
Moreover, the researchers will exploit qualitative method of study in this research
since the researchers will be exploring the texts of the novels for literary devices
and comparing various themes of these two novels involving complexity,
contexts, and explanation.

Qualitative data analysis:

There are three types of qualitative data, audio, video, and the text. This study is
based on textual analysis, which the researcher will collect the textual data before
conducting the study, by the following sources.

The novels text books; will be used as a primary source for the study.
Earlier studies are conducted by other researchers and the mass media reports;
will be used as a secondary source for the study.

The study will take data from the two novels and earlier researches, and mass
media reports, Animal Farm and Frankenstein. The data will be in the form of
words, phrases, and sentences. The researcher will find the similar and different
themes, and the literary devices used in both novels including allegory,
symbolism, and personification.
