 For FY2018, the fixed based per-student amount was $2,463.78 (students with no special

needs or disadvantages receive this funding amount)

 Contributed revenue is based on property values among districts

 An increase of funding is provided for CTE programs, ELLs, special education students,

and gifted and talented students; not for students from low-income households

 Small school districts can receive increased funding through grants

 Charter school are funded using a similar formula used to calculate traditional public

schools

 The average U.S. school district spending per student is $11,841

 District funding relies heavily on local property taxes

 Per the 2016 article, Dekalb County spends $8,344 per student. This is more than 10%

below the U.S. average

o Atlanta City School District spends $12,996

o Fulton County School District spends $9,511

o Gwinnett County School District spends $8,463

o Rockdale County School District spends $9,192

o Henry County School District spends $8,188

o Clayton County School District spends $7,566
