FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Humane Society of Central Illinois to Partner with PetCo Foundation for Valentine’s Day
to Show Love to Pets

NORMAL, Ill. –- The Humane Society of Central Illinois partners with PetCo Foundation to
celebrate furry friends Feb. 1-14 for Valentine’s Day. HSCI will have individuals post a video or
photo on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter to celebrate their love for their adopted pet.

The post needs to contain the hashtag #ShelterValentine, as well as tag

@humanesocietycentralillinois and @petcofoundation. By creating this post, it will increase the
chances for the HSCI to win a grant of up to $10,000. Participants who create a post that follows
all the criteria will be entered into a drawing to win a HSCI sweatshirt and mug.

Tim Anderson, board president for HSCI said, “At the end of the day, it’s all about the animals.
With this money, we’ll be able to make sure that the time these animals spend here is filled with
love and the appropriate resources. With this event, we’re also able to promote the adoption of
animals in shelters rather than buying them from breeders or mills.”

This event benefits HSCI to ensure the well-being of animals in their facilities and allow further
business. This not-for-profit organization relies on donations and generosity of individuals to
help HSCI continue their efforts to help animals. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this
event, even those who did not adopt their pet at HSCI or adopt at all.

For more information about the event, visit the HSCI website at
https://www.hscipets.org/calendar.htm. If interested in adopting an animal, head to our adoption
page located at https://www.hscipets.org/adoptioninformation.htm.

About Humane Society of Central Illinois:

Founded in 1996, the Humane Society of Central Illinois is a not-for-profit organization whose
mission is to find forever homes for abused and unwanted pets, and have every pet be properly
loved and cared for. They help more than 2,200 animals annually. Due to overwhelming demand,
HSCI switched to a bigger location in 2006 to accommodate all the animals. This new location
allowed for more people to view pets, have more hours, more programs, a small staff, and
volunteer opportunities within the community. Being a not-for-profit, HSCI relies heavily on the
generosity of individuals, whether it be time, or monetary donations from other foundations or
corporations.
