Argumentative Essay

Racial and social discrimination has been apart of our history even before christ and

here’s why it will never change. Here are my 3 reasons on why I agree with this statement no

matter where in history you look there is almost a source of slavery no matter where you look it’s

not always as plain insight as you’d like but even things such as lower wages to anyone other

than the “master race” during that time, for example, Pharaoh used the Jewish people or gods

people to build his empire. I could give more and more examples of old discrimination but I’d

rather share my idea on today’s society, we live in a world where everyone is “equal” to each

other but it sadly just is not true at all it’s seen in a lot of social and racial parties now, for

example, the African American community still feel attacked and good examples for this is

“police brutality” where a member of the African community is either “ beaten” with no reason

in which then is followed with people admitting they saw the incident agreeing with something

that isn’t true in which this all leads to the talk of racist cops in which there have been cases

where an African American officer has used force on another African American and there were

no reports of police brutality. Racial discrimination is everywhere now and has become such a

huge issue with our government and even our protective services.

In today’s society, there is so much discrimination that we face on a daily basis whether

it’s due to someone sexual preference of someones political preference we face so much diversity

in our society today, and it’s not just in our homes it’s in our schools it’s in our stores it’s

everywhere. In the story Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe the character uncle Tom

known as an African American man who throughout the story struggles with the poverty of

slavery and the racial discrimination of that time. Tom is known in the story as an uplifting

Christian man who is always putting the fighting spirit in his African American brothers and

sisters. Tom shows the bravery all through the story of the things he faces and the discrimination

he faces throughout the story. Tom is a great example of what needs to be done in the

modern-day society, Tom shows that no matter what happens he has the confidence and will not

let the racist thoughts and names bug him. I believe that tom gives a great lesson to all kids that

struggle today with the type of discrimination there is in life.

We face so many issues today from discrimination to inequality and it has shown that

there is no turning point to come anytime soon. The story and message of Uncle Tom’s Cabin is

a great example of what he can do today to face these issues. I think that we struggle so much in

today’s society that we have forgotten that we still need to change the history and past have

happened but yet we still haven’t made the changes that need to be made. For one our life is

always revolved around ourselves and not the others that are around us at every moment of the

day.
