Time Analyze prompt: The students will get into mall groups where they are going to analyze a
10 min prompt by only discussing what could they write about. Instead of making them write about
it, the students will discuss what they would write about and give their reasons and details.
Time POD: During this time, the students will work on STAAR released revise and edit questions.
15 min The students will work on one through three questions in this time, along with guidance of the
teacher.
Time Composition: The students will then have an hour to work on their
60 min composition. The teacher will give them the prompt and they will
have to plan their writing using the process that they have been using
the whole year. The students will be timed from step to step (between
10-15min).
Time Revise and edit centers: During this time, the students will be doing a center of
60 min homophones. In the center the students will be working with some dominos where they are
given a sentence with a blank to fill in. Then in the other side of the domino, it has a
homophone of the word that goes in the blank to help them determine the word. After they are
done with this activity, the students will move on to work on applying the skill into STAAR
based questions.
