SECTION  6.   REACTIVITY  DATA
Stability     Unstable,  decaying  to  ordinary  diatomic  oxygen:  2O3  !  3O2

It  has  a  varying  half-‐life  length,  depending  upon  atmospheric
conditions  (temperature,  humidity,  and  air  movement).  In  an
aqueous  solution  of  ozone  dissolved  in  water,  the  water-‐
dissolved  ozone  decomposes  spontaneously  under  all  ordinary
conditions.  Decomposition  is  accelerated  by  contact  with  solid
surfaces,  by  contact  with  chemical  substances  and  by  the  effect
of  heat.

Reactivity   In  an  aqueous  solution  of  ozone  dissolved  in  water,  the  water-‐
dissolved  ozone  is  a  power-‐oxidizing  agent  and  reacts  with  all
oxidizing  materials,  both  organic  and  inorganic,  by  reactions
either  with  the  molecular  ozone  or  hydroxyl  radicals  (OH),  the
later  are  formed  when  ozone  decomposes  in  water.  It  is
recommend  for  use  with  oxidation-‐resistant  materials  to
support  applications.

Hazard
Skin  Absorption   No  published  data  indicates  this  product  could  be  hazardous
Hazard   when  absorbed  through  the  skin.
Inhalation  Hazard   Inhalation  is  not  likely  to  be  a  primary  route  of  exposure  but
could  become  irritating  of  aerosols  are  exposed  to  individual  for
extended  period  of  time.
Ingestion  Hazard   Not  Hazardous
Effects  of  Acute
Mild  eye  or  skin  irritation
Exposure
Effects  of  Chronic   Repeated  exposure  of  the  skin  to  concentrated  product  should
Exposure   be  avoided  to  prevent  irritation  and  drying  of  the  skin.
Emergency  and  First  Aid  Procedures
Eye  Contact   If  exposure  to  water  containing  aqueous  solution  of  dissolved
ozone  causes  irritation  to  eyes,  flush  eyes  with  plenty  of  clean,
running  water  for  least  15  minutes,  lifting  the  upper  and  lower
lids  occasionally.  Remove  contact  lenses  if  worn.  Seek  medical
attention  if  irritation  persists.
Skin  Contact     Not  likely  to  become  irritated  unless  repeatedly  exposed  to  large
volumes  of  material.  If  irritation  develops,  rinse  affected  area
with  ozone  free  potable  water.  If  irritation  continues  seek
medical  advice.
Inhalation     Inhalation  of  mists  could  lead  to  irritation  of  lungs.  If  symptoms
develop,  move  individual  away  from  exposure  and  into  fresh  air.
If  symptoms  persist,  seek  medical  attention.

SECTION  10.   SPECIAL  PRECAUTIONS  AND  COMMENTS
Precautionary   Certified  testing  of  BES’s  systems  by  NSF  (National  Sanitation
Labeling   Foundation)  has  shown  that  under  normal  conditions  of  use,
aqueous  solution  containing  mild  levels  of  ozone  gas  dissolved  in
portable  water  do  not  present  a  safety  hazard  when  contact  to
the  individual  is  incidental.
Precautions  To  Be   Ozone  in  the  form  of  gas  can  be  released  from  ozonated  water
Taken  in  Detecting   even  after  it  has  been  properly  dissolved.  This  amount  is  usually
Off-‐gas     very  small  and  through  the  smell  may  be  detectable.  In  this
aqueous  medium  range  concentrations  (0-‐12.0  ppm),  the
amount  of  off-‐gas  is  not  a  health  concern.

When  used  in  a  room  with  normal  ventilation,  levels  of  ozone
gas  being  released  into  the  air  have  been  supported  by  BES
Group  with  tests  to  show  that  to  be  well  below  the  periodic
exposure  levels  established  by  OSHA  for  worker  safety  through
the  utilization  of  BES’s  product  technology.

Room  Ventilation   ventilated  using  either:
Conditions   • A  ventilation  system  that  provides  at  least  5  air  changes  per
hour,  or
• A  two-‐stage  ventilation  system  that  uses  a  general  and  an
emergency  system.  Under  normal  conditions,  the  general
system  should  provide  at  least  three  air  changes  per  hour.  In
the  event  of  higher  ozone  off  gassing,  the  emergency  system
should  provide  at  least  30  air  changes  per  hour.  An  ozone
monitor  in  the  ozone  room  must  automatically  activate  the
emergency  system  when  the  ozone  concentration  exceeds
0.05  ppm.
Precautions  in   The  off-‐gas  destruct  component  built-‐in  with  the  product  must
