These new specifications are not only aimed at Keeping abroast with current technologies but also helping in improving the qualty of constructed product. In unison, these new specifications have a significant positive impact on the constuction industy especialy ith the incorporation of new products and technologies. Standard Specification for Road Works is an essential component in the road infrastructure construction dusty. This speciation provides an improved guidance in ‘the material selection and the production of good qualiy workmanship and products, based on current best practices. The purpose of this standard specication isto establish Lunifocmity in road works to be used by road designers, road authortes, manufacturers ‘and suppliers of road related products This document "Standard Speciation for Road Works - Section 15: Parapet is @ part ofa sates of improved specifications in the Standard Specfcation for Road Works. The compilation ofthis document was carried out trough many discussions bythe technical committee members. The work ‘hall be carried out in accoréance with the specification and the lines, grades, mensions and cross sections as shown on the Drawings and as directed by the 80. The Work shall be carted out all in accordance. with the ‘Specification and the ies, levels, grades, dimensions and cross sections {8 shown on the Drawings and as directed by the §.0. 15.3.2 Matoriale 15.3.2: Steel Parapets Uniess otherwise specified on the Drawings, materials of constuction for ‘steel parapets, tng, anchorages and attachment aystems shall comply ‘with the appropriate Bish Standard listed in Table 15.1 (Append A) ‘and in accordance with the requirements tated in clause 122 Section 12: Structural Steeiworks ofthis Speciation. 15.22 Aluminium Aly Paraneis Uniess otherwise specified on the Drawings, materials of constuction for ‘aluminium alloy parapets, faing, anchorages and attachment systems shall comply with the appropriate British Standard Wsted in Table 15.2 (Appencix 8) and in accordance to BS 8118, sis xrisPu2019-815) 16:33 Regulrement 15.3.1 Minimum Height ‘The minimum height of parapets shall be as specified In Drawings, The height of the parapets of normal and low levels of containment shall bo ‘not less than 1.00 metre measured above adjoining paved surface: The height of parapets of high level of containment shall be not less than 1.50 metre above adjoining paved surface. 15.332 Minimum Section Thickness ‘The minimum thickness of section of all metal parts shall be in accordance with Table 15.3 (Append C). 15.3.3 Ebings toinfing ‘Where infling is attached to the traffic face, fixings shal project not more than 15 mm beyond the front face of the infling. Projecting bot heads shall be well unded. For high level of containment, special end bays shall be provided at each side of the joint.
