My Treasure, My Everything (Christian Santana, SOT Preaching Test 28 May

2019)

Introduction

Before we start, let’s commit this time into God’s hands.

Abba, Father, thankyou for Your presence in this place. We surrender this time into

Your loving hand. You work in our heart, Holy Spirit flows into our life rightnow. In

Jesus name. All the God people says. Amen.

Human tend to treasure something that valuable and precious in our eye. Certain

people find their treasure in certain things and begin to collect for them self to enjoy

and they become collectors, example : cars, watches, jewelry, bags, purses, shoes,

sneakers, toys, stamps, and many else. Some collectable items have increased in

value over time, so it can be a good investment asset. Such as paintings, the most

expensive painting that ever been sold in auction is a painting called “Salvator

Mundi” painted by Italian artist, Leonardo da Vinci. It was painted in the year of

1500, and sold for 460 million USD in November, 2017. What a fantasic number for a

painting!

As a Christian, we can say “that was so worldly”, “that was them, worldly people”,

“we are Christian, we are not like that”. Are we? Don’t get me wrong, I am not

against collectable items and the collectors. In fact, I just started to collect cereal box

toy for fun! But we must check our heart. Is there anything that we treasure more

than God? If we have something that we treasure above God, that things has

become our idol. That is why we must check our heart.

Tell to your neighbour : “we must check our heart.”

In the bible, Jesus tell us “The Parable of the Rich Fool”, from that passage we can

find 3 indicators to help us to check our heart. Who is my treasure, my everything?

Body

Lets open our bible to Luke 12:16-21 (NKJV), I will read the passage for us,

16 Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine

crops. 17 He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my

crops.’ 18 Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones.

Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. 19 And I’ll

sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years

to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’20 “But God said to him,

‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you

worked for?’ 21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have

a rich relationship with God.”

1. Greed

In verse 17 and 18, the rich man always want to collect more crops and build bigger

barns to store the crops, never enough. I have story about greedy monkey,

Men who trap animals in Africa for zoos say that one of the hardest animals to

catch is the ringtailed monkey. For the local people of that continent, however,

it’s simple. They’ve been catching this agile little animal with ease for years.

The method they use is based on knowledge of the animal. Their trap is

nothing more than a melon growing on a vine. The seeds of this melon are a

favorite of the monkey. Knowing this, they simply cut a hole in the melon, just

large enough for the monkey to insert his hand to reach the seeds inside. The

monkey will stick his hand in, grab as many seeds as he can, then start to
withdraw it. This he cannot do. His fist is now larger than the hole. The

monkey will pull and tug, screech, and fight the melon for hours. But he can’t

get free of the trap unless he gives up the seeds, which he refuses to do.

2. Self-Absorbed

In verse 19, the rich man stored the crops for himself to enjoy. He never considered

giving crops to the needy. On the surface, the rich man seems had a perfectly

prudent plan, but the constant focus is only on himself. He just want to absorbed

everything for his pleasure.

3. Passionless towards God

In verse 21, Jesus calls him a fool because he store up earthly wealth but not have a

rich relationship with God. In scripture, a fool is not someone with low intelligence,

but one who dishonors and disobeys God. He never bringing God into the equation

at all. He was ignorant with his relationship with God. He was passionless towards

God.

Conclusion

With this 3 indicators, we can check our heart. If we have something that make GAP

(G-A-P) between us and God, which are :

G – Greed

A – Self Absorbed

P – Passionless towards God

we must rethink again, does Jesus is my treasure, my everything? Or we have idols

in our life.
Now let me show you, the most expensive painting in the world, that sold for 460

million USD, painted by Leonardo da Vinci, this is “Salvator Mundi” or in English,

“Savior of the World” (open the cover)

The painting shows Jesus in Renaissance dress, making the sign of the cross with

his right hand, while holding a transparent, non-refracting crystal orb in his left,

signaling his role as Salvator Mundi (Latin for 'Savior of the World') and representing

the 'celestial sphere' of the heavens.

If the “worldly people” can treasure Jesus like this, how about us, Christians? Are we

truly make Jesus as “My Treasure, My Everything”?

Philippians 3:19 (NKJV) says

19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in

their shame—who set their mind on earthly things.

Lets Pray. (Pray in tongue)

Prayer and altar call

Friends, we believe that God want to bless us as we bless others who needy around

us. But first we must set our mind and our heart to God the provider. Whoever

convicted and want to declare once again that Jesus is my treasure, my everything,

raise your hand in the count of three. 1.. 2.. 3.. Halelujah Lets Pray with me together

Lord, once again I declare that, You and only You, my treasure, my everything,

in my life! I receive Your provision and blessing, so You can use me to bless

others around me. ThankYou for Your provision and blessing. In Jesus name.

Amen!
