INTRODUCTION

We all know that we are experiencing this global pandemic in which all of us are affected by
this. We are now trying to adapt to this new normal in which wearing facemasks and sanitizing
always is a must. The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the social problems that we are facing right
now. This virus affected everyone globally, it has increased unemployment rate which affected
us financially, and it also affected the mental health of the people. The unemployment rate is
increasing and many of the people are now jobless which are having a hard time in buying their
daily needs for their everyday consumption. With this unemployment rate increasing, we are
experiencing financial problems. It also affected the mental health of some people in which they
became easily depressed.

This social problem has caused a huge impact on everybody’s lives. Those people who already
are having a hard time surviving on a daily basis, it even made it even harder. There are lots of
people who took their lives because of depression that’s consuming them. There are workers
who took their lives because they worry about their families being miles apart from them while
we are experiencing this pandemic. There are also students who took their lives because of too
much stress while having these online classes.

The most common word that the philosopher used in describing what good life means is
“happiness or pleasure”. These days it’s hard to tell if we are having this good life. A lot has
happened and change and we are not achieving the things that make us happy or satisfies us.
These days we tend to not value our happiness anymore, we tend to prioritize that helps us
survive in our daily basis. Base on Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs in order to have a
good life one must achieve all of the needs first but most of us are not achieving these needs
anymore. It is hard to tell that with these social problems, we are living the good life. With these
social problems that’s happening it is even harder for us to achieve the happiness that we want,
to satisfy our needs and feel pleasure. For us to live a good life, we can find other ways for us to
feel happy. There are still ways that we can do to satisfy these needs and still live a good life.
We should appreciate and do the little things that can help us to be happy and feel pleasure so
that though we are facing this kind of social problem, we can still live a good life.
