Employees may also feel like losers during the change to a team culture.

Some
traditional staff groups, such as technical advisory staffs, may feel
that their jobs
are in jeopardy as teams do more and more of the technical work
formerly done by
technicians. New roles and pay scales may need to be developed for
the technical
staff in these situations. Often, technical people have been assigned
to a team or a
small group of teams and become members who fully participate in team
activities.
Another cost associated with teams is the slowness of the
process of full
for teamteams development. to go through As discussed the full
development elsewhere incycle thisand chapter, become it takes
maturé, a long efficient, time

and effective. If top management is impatient with the slow progress,
teams may
be disbanded, returrung organuation to its original iuerarchteal form
with
significantlosses for employees , managers, and the organization.
Probably the most dangerous cost ISpremature abandonment of the change to
a
team-basedorganization.Iftop management gets impatient with the
team change
processand cuts it short, never allowing teams to develop fully and
realize benefits,
all the hard work of employees , middle managers, and supervisors
is lost. As a
result, employee confidence in management in general and in the
decision makers
in particularmay suffer for a long time. The losses in productivity
and efficiency
willbe very difficult to recoup. Management must therefore be fully
committed
beforeinitiatinga change to a difficult to recoup. Management must
therefore be
fully committed before initiating a change to a team-based organization.

We all know that one of the purpose of why a group is created is to

accomplish a certain goal. And as a group strive to achieve this goal,
there are factors that will affect their performance along the way. Having
said that, Today im gonna talk about group performance facors.
There are actually a lot of factors….
1ST Is group composition. A group is consist of a number of indiviuals.
Ane this indiviualds could have similarities and differences so grouop
compositon can be desecribe as homogenous and hetero group.
Read….
These characteristics and qualities are age….
Why does group composition affects group perfroamce… what a group
is composed of inf;unec productivity andlevel of productivity determines
group performance…..
So homogenous group tend to become more productive and successful
in accomplishing simple task because they can arrive easily with
decisions due to their similarity.comfortably, and the alomost the same
perceptions…
ON the other hand hetero groups is likely to be more productive when it
comes to complex projects because diversity in a group could be an
advantage as members can contribute different ideas and these ideas can
de considered and weigh in as to which is much appropriate and better
for thr group task.
However we should remember that differences could also become a
source of conflicts and misunderstanding.

Group size can be classified into two, small groups or large groups.
Generally, small groups are consist of 2 to 10 indiviuals and large
groups are more than 10 indv, hwoever these range of members could
deen ofn the nature of the task to be performed in a group.

So to elaborate more ahow a goeup size affects group performance IS

THROUGH THESE PROS AND CONS
Read pros and cons….
It is said that as the size of the group increases, Satisfaction…thus
members in large groups have higher level of satisfaction than in small
groups, so if this aren’t met, they will be less satisfied resulting to poor
performance.

3rd is group norms

or in other words group norms are acceptable standards of behavior
within a group that are shared by the members of the group. Norms are
created in different ways it could be from old groups that is passed from,
group discussion as to what is appropriate for the group or just the
institution itself has created it. Some groups forced their member to
conform to the norms however it should be considered not to do any
harmful ways just to make members conform to the gorus standard.
There must be shared understanding among members.
iT often reflect, because if majority
group survival, norms of a group is part of tehidentity of a group and if
these norms are successfully enforced then it increases the efficiency
and survival of the group in future endeavors
Norms serves as an anticipation factor where leaders and other members
can anticipate behvaiors of their co members which is an advantage as
the group can prepare appropriate responses to it,

Norms helps a group avoid embarrassing moments in a way that

members will not be ignorant of the accepted and nonaccpeted bahviors
in the group and feeling of discomfort will be prevented.

Norms that encourage expression of the group’s values and distinctive identity help to solidify
and maintain the group.

Lastly is group cohesiveness…read… in short cohesiveness refers to the

exetent of unity in the group.
Actually condfrimity in norms and cohesiveness are interconnected
becaseu the greater the confirmoty of the norms of the member in the
group the stronger the cohesivenss will be develop among them.

Outcomes:
Participation – comfortable
Conformity – the more comfortable or willng ammebr to stay in agroup
also iplies that she is willng to conform to the group’s standards
More Success – Cohesiveness is key factor towards achieving the group’s goals. Unity in a
group determines a lot of good
leads to higher degree of communication, participation, makes the goal achievement easier and
goal achievement adds to success. The closer the members,
