1. Suppose, you want to send an information (from table.1) through a transmission medium. 15

a) Show the conversion of the digital data to digital signals using NRZ-I, 2B1Q, MLT-3 schemes. Mention
conditions & transition table.

b) The attenuation of signal mentioned in Q1(a) is –VAL1 dB/Km. If transmitted power is VAL2 mW,
what is the power of the signal at VAL3 km?

c) The signal in Q1(b) passes through 12 devices, what is the SNR & SNRdB if each devices with an average
noise of VAL4 microwatts.

d) If the signal is going through a VAL5 MHz Bandwidth Channel, what will be the maximum bit rate that
can be achieved in this channel? What will be the appropriate signal level?

e) What is the total delay (latency) for a frame of size VAL6 million bits that is being sent on a same link
as Q1(c) with each devices having a queuing time of VAL7 μs and a processing time of VAL8 μs? The
length of the link is 3000 Km. The speed of light inside the link is 2.1 × 108 m/s.

2. Design a heterogeneous network consists of four WANs and three LANs. LAN at office A consists of
four PC, LAN at home has only one PC and LAN at office B has 2 PC. [hint: Use switched WAN,
Modem, Switch, Router as connecting devices ] 5
