Admissible Wear at the Meshing Gears of the R/C Sliding Sleeve

Information about admissible parallel wear at the meshing gears of the R/C sliding sleeve (also
refer to Fig. 2 and sketch Fig. 6) in relation to the mileage (in km) run can be taken from the fol-
lowing table:

Table 1: Long-distance traffic (truck & bus)

Up to mileage [km] For the number of R/C shifts
Wear measurement *)
in long-distance transport (respectively for R/C L and R/C S)
2.6 mm 0 km --
3.1 mm 100,000 km 22,500
3.4 mm 250,000 km 56,250
3.7 mm 500,000 km 112,500
4.0 mm 750,000 km 168,750
4.2 mm MAX 1,000,000 km 225,000
*) refer to Fig. 6

Table 2: Construction site traffic (truck) and/or suburban traffic (bus)

Measurement from the front face of the meshing gears (F6) to the lowest point of the at the
ramp tip circle diameter. In the case of non-symmetrical wear, the side with the strongest
traces of wear is to be measured.

Measures/Actions:

In the case of a repair job, the part which exceeds the admissible wear values stated in this
document, tables 1 and 2, (at the respective mileage [km]) must be replaced. In the case of pre-
cise complaints "R/C gear jumping out", the synchronizers of the range change group may al-
ready be replaced prior to attaining the admissible wear values. In the case that the wear meas-
urement is bigger than 4.2 mm, then, the sliding sleeve must be replaced.

Comment:

At the end of the service life, the R/C synchronizers are at 450 000 R/C shifts i.e. respectively
225 000 R/C shifts per R/C direction, R/C L (low) and R/C S (high).

Reason:

In the case that wear at the meshing gears is too big, then, this aspect may lead to gear losses in
the R/C.
