SUMMARY

LESSON #1- THE FUTURE IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

It's from this lesson onwards that things will change.

You're gonna learn in 7 days what Fingerpicking is, how
it began, why the best guitarists in the world are using it
and how it's gonna help you in your own musical journey.

For that, I need 3 things from you:

- COMMITMENT: To learn what few people know, it's

necessary to have commitment. Commitment with
yourself is the first step to learning this technique that
made me stand out in the world, because a small
mistake in the beginning results in a big mistake in the
future. Therefore, be committed and study each lesson
in a chronological order, because they're organized that
way for a reason, alright?
- STUDY THE MATERIAL: Yes, to study this material that
you're reading is the second thing I need you to do in
order for you to be successful on your journey. You're
already committed, right? Then let's get to work!

- KEEP ON WITH ME: These are only 7 lessons, but our

mission doesn't end here. My goal and my relationship
with you are LONG TERM, so, if you really are
committed, keep on with me on the livestreams, social
media, Telegram and Messenger, because I'll always
share high value content for you.

#IMCOMMITED
When I won the 2014 Guitar Idol competition, I was very
honored because I heard the following from the judges:
"You won because you were able to make music that
has your trademark, a trademark of your country".

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Everything began when I started playing Brazilian
acoustic guitar influenced by the great Paulinho
Nogueira, an amazing guitarist. I already played his
music on the guitar at 12 years old. I began using my
fingers, therefore, that's something that came from the
acoustic guitar, and at this time I didn't have the
influence of absolutely anyone else.
As time went on, other guitarists started to use their
fingers more, like Richie Kotzen, Matues Asato, Lari
Basilio, the guys from Animals As Leaders, an italian guy
called Matteo Mancuso, it all became a trend worldwide,
but I began way back with brazilian acoustic guitar. That
was my influence, and the beginning of everything…

I deal with it pretty naturally, because when I started I was

way younger. Obviously, I also used a pick. I even started
taking Jazz lessons, a style where guitarists go between
their pick and fingers in order to play rhythm and lead. It
was exactly in that kind of situation that I instinctively
started to alternate between pick and fingers in the
sleight-of-hand way I do today, which is called the
"MAGIC PICK".

Little did I know that it would make me stand out and

give me the chance two play with two techniques at any
given moment.

Everyone is always asking me: "How do you do that? Is it

a magic trick?"

Don't worry, you'll be able to understand and appreciate

the best of both worlds.

In addition to that, the sound of your fingers is more

mellow and allows you to do things you could never do
with a pick, because there are phrases where that is
literally IMPOSSIBLE.
YOUTUBE
Some of my phrases are only possible to be played with
FINGERPICKING!

Take a moment to think about it: "Why do guys like Tosin

Abasi and Javier Reyes play with a pick and fingers?".
It's simple, because there are things and sounds you can
only get with your FINGERS, the same way that there are
things you can only do with a pick, like sweeping and
alternate picking.

Anyways, each technique has its own ways, but fingers

are at an all time high.

Finger picking is DOMINATING EVERYTHING!

What do you say, wanna get in this world?

YOUR FIRST ASSIGNMENT IS TO DO THIS EXERCISE AND

MASTER THE "MAGIC PICK".

Cool. Now we only have 4 fingers available, which

means, it makes a lot more sense to use 4 strings, right?
So let's get to playing!
Watch the video below and practice Fingerpicking with
an F major triad.

NOTICE HOW A SIMPLE EXERCISE

ALREADY GIVES US SUCH A UNIQUE
SOUND ONLY MADE POSSIBLE BY
FINGERPICKING.

Also, always practice with a metronome and in 1/4 and

8th notes.

Dig the exercise?

So practice it, record a story on instagram with one of

our hashtags and tag me on it!
I'm waiting for you!

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q: Do you need to be advanced to learn Fingerpicking?
A: No, you can be at any level. Every technique has it's
easy and hard parts.

Q: Is Fingerpicking the same as Hybrid Picking?

A: No! Fingerpicking is PICK OR FINGERS, and Hybrid
Picking is PICK AND FINGERS.

Q: Is it hard to hold the pick with the pinky finger (the

Magic Pick)?
R: No! Countless students are already doing it, and it's a
matter of practice.

Q: I try to do it but my ring finger bends as well. What

now?
R: Don't worry! It can bend along with the pinky, mine
does too. It never has to be completely straight up! Many
students also have that thought but don't worry, it's all
good. It can be bent because when you're playing it'll be
that way anyways, it won't be straight, so no problem
alright?
Q: How do I mute the strings?
A: You're gonna mute with the left hand the same way
that you would with sweep picking. With sweeping you
can't let two notes from different strings ring
simultaneously, right? That also goes for Fingerpicking!
I'LL SEE YOU AT LESSON #2!
