2 Information

The PumoTrend software is intended to be used with the VentMeter and the free version,
that accompanies the VentMeter Product is a basic version with limited resources.

The PulmoTrend is basic software that can be used freely with the VentMeter – Ventilator
Analyzer. It can be downloaded from Magnamed’s website and installed in a Microsoft
Windows XP Operating System or newer.

With this basic version it is possible to connect the VentMeter through a serial RS-232
connection (or through a USB – to SERIAL converter cable with appropriate driver) and
see all the parameters once in the screen.

All the eighteen numerical parameters can be showed simultaneously and trend graphics
for Expired Volume, Maximum Pressure and PEEP (it is fixed this way in this version of
software). The real time graphics presented are Pressure x Time, Flow x Time and Volume
x Time curves, selected by the user.

4 Description

4.1 Intended Use

The PulmoTrend software with a CALIBRATED VentMeter allows certifying lung ventilators and storing these
results in a computer or printing the results. It is useful to constitute the PHF (Product History File) of the lung
ventilator.

4.2 Installation

1. Unzip the content of PulmoTrend.zip in a temporary folder;

2. Run Setup

3. It is ready to be used

4.3 VentMeter Connection

1. If you have serial port, than connect the VentMeter to this port;

2. The serial cable is like an extension connection

3. If you have a USB to SERIAL converter, than you should assure that the drivers are installed;

4.4 Starting PulmoTrend

1. Click on PulmoTrend at Start Menu to run the program;

In this screen it can be identified four main areas:

a. Monitored Parameters – Shows all eighteen monitored parameters and is refreshed each respiration
cycle;
b. Target Lung Ventilator and Lung Simulator Adjustments – In this panel it is possible to program all
the tests that should be done to certify a lung ventilator.
c. Trend Graphics – This panel shows a fixed trend graphics parameters (Expired Volume, Maximum
Pressure and PEEP)

d. Real Time Graphics – This panel shows the Pressure x Time, Flow x Time and Volume x Time curves
that can be selected by the user.

To enter data equipment:

a. Click Config. Equip. a window will open.

b. Fill in the fields, and press OK, when filalize the test and print it, it will be recorded in the report.

To start communication, see the figure above

a. Select the communication port (Communication) – There are twenty four possibilities from COM1 to
COM24

b. Start communication by pressing CONNECT (Communication – Connect) – After you press the
communication indicator bar will fill, the real time curves will run on the screen and the parameters
will start to be shown.

5.2 Scale Adjustment

a. By clicking over the scale at the left side of the REAL TIME GRAPHICS A FVP window pops-up - in
this window it is possible to select the curves to be shown and also setup the maximum and minimum
of each scale.

b. Clicking over the left panel of the TREND GRAPHICS it will pop-up a trend graphics scale setup
window in which it is possible to select the minimum and maximum scale of each parameter and also
the time scale.

5.3 Test Setup

The right upper panel is the Lung Ventilator and Lung Simulator Adjustment programming panel.

a. In the example above, the test duration is set to 2 minutes

b. The test number is 1 of 1
c. Parameters to be adjusted in the lung ventilator and lung simulator is being programmed as:
 MODE – VCV ADU
 COMPLIANCE – 50 mL/cmH2O
 Volume – 500mL…..

d. By clicking the TOLERANCE button the tolerances window pops-up and all parameters different from
zero will be registered and can be printed after the tests

e. Note that in the above figure only the Tidal Volume, PEEP, Frequency and Inspiratory Time can be
printed in a test result report.
f. Clicking the TEST button after ADD on the right panel TEST SETTINGS you can add a second
parameter testing. Note that the test number switches 2 to 2, meaning second test.

g. Clicking the TEST button then INSERT on the right panel, you can also type tests before and after the
tests have already been developed.

h. Change the values or parameters

i. You can also insert an information to be confirmed in the test result, the test results, the text is free
and can be written other information they need to present on the report.

j. See below the report generated and printed in pdf of above test.

k. By clicking the save icon the tests can be saved.

l. To start registering the parameters press the start test button. You will see a progress bar in green.
Finishing the test a End of Test Window will pop-up. Click OK to finish.

m. To view the test realized, click in Test Result.

n. Select the next test by clicking the Next Test button and again press Start Test until all the tests are
done.

o. To save the test results click the SAVE TEST RESULT ICON at the upper left corner of the screen.

p. Open the test results. Click the Load Tests Results ICON at the upper left corner of the screen and
select the test result name to see.

q. Printing the Report – Click the printer icon and select the printer output.

This product should be used exclusively to evaluate lung ventilators performances

and should be operated by qualified personnel.
