Nutrition for athletes

People who do a lot of sports usually want to have a good


diet. Sometimes people think that to have a good diet, we
need to eat only vegetable, fruit and meat. This is no
exactly correct. The base of an excellent diet, especially
for an athlete, is carbohydrate. Foods like potatoes, pasta
and rice contain carbohydrates, and these foods give us
energy and vitamins. Some people also think it is bad to
eat fat or sugar. These foods are bad in large quantities,
but we need some fat and sugar for energy. Of course, a
good diet also contains a lot of vegetables, meat and fish.
Vegetables and fruit give us vitamins, and meat and fish
give us protein. The secret to a good diet is the correct

Helping to Save the Planet

East Point High School students are going to a different local


park each weekend and collecting the trash. There are trash
cans in all parks, but people don’t use them, says Mandy
Cooper, a high school student working on this environmental
project. The students are also collecting old newspapers,
empty aluminum cans and glass bottles at school and selling
them to a recycling plant. “we’re sending the money to the
International Rainforest Program”, says Cooper. This program
buys and preserves hectares of rainforest in the Americas.
