President’s Message
Dear BAGC Extended family,
Another Year, another Decade !!! Another Team, another turn to enrich, empower,
endear our community. Time for 2020 Executive Committee to get into action for
our own BAGC.
Congratulations and thanks to the 2019 President and Executive Committee for
giving us (BAGC) a fantastic and memorable 2019.
Nurturing, assimilating, rejuvenating is never an easy task, however meaningful.
But we stand strong in this pledge. As they say, the only way to do anything
meaningful, is to plan energetically, perform earnestly and dare to take a challenge
for betterment.
Together we will try to live up to your expectations and create new ones, take our
cherished BAGC further and stand by our extended family through thick and thin.
Let's make Banga Bhaban, our community home and hub, more vibrant by involving our own members of all ages. We
will try to improve and enhance through more technology, more communication, much passion and hearty good will.
And we will do all these together, as the One Big Family that we are.

My experience with Tile Painting!

Ananya Biswas

Did you ever tile paint before ? Well I did ! And I am

going to tell you about my experience. It will all take
about half an hour.
First. I thought it looked bad, but it turned out good.
Here are some steps to tile paint:
1. Buy a 6 × 6 inch white glazed tile.
2. Buy a pack of sharpies, with colors, red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink,
brown, and black.
3. Buy ‘Rubbing alcohol’ (also called 'Isopropyl
Alcohol')
4. Make sure you have a dropper. If you don’t
then use cotton balls.
5. Start by using the sharpies and color the whole
tile. WARNING! Do not use black or brown
colors.
6. Next, use the dropper or the cotton balls to put
the rubbing alcohol in between the colors to
make a special effect. And then let it dry

7. Use the black sharpie to draw a picture

(anything you want!). Pictures that are in black
but with a colorful background are called
‘Silhouettes’.
This is how you can try ‘Tile Painting’. It may be
hard at first, so make sure you have a parent or guardian
around to help you. After you are done, wash your hands
really well.
I hope you like the first tile painting that I did
following the above steps!
Many thanks to Piyas Mashi (Piyas Bhattacharya)
for teaching me about tile painting!

Language of Saraswati
Indrani Mondal

It is very white here now

snowflakes hugging gnarled, bare branches
smothering soil and street,
all hues soaked up by swirling snow winds.
Could this be the advent of Mahasweta
the complete white
unspoilt by ravages of stormy passion
and indiscriminate utterance?
Pure in enunciation
profound in sense?
Yet cold and unfeeling?

But it was different there, where I just came from

golden color splashed on blue skies
by a riotous tropical sun,
alighting playfully on golden chrysanthemums
golden beaks of talkative mynahs,
touching wraps and saris with resplendent yellow,
even in fragrant mustard curry adorning simple fish with gold.
The promise of Vasant, spring in everyday life,
adored as a Golden Girl of warm wit and talent, Vasanti,
in artistic, pith alters of all shapes and sizes.

Is all this Saraswati,

drawing into
one world of perception,
different hemispheres,
different seasons,
different shades and sounds of expression,
ready to articulate
the perfect Word
in the one true language
born from this cauldron of life
but unconditioned, unmutated by it?
