Section 1: Creating your BHAG
Following the information in the “Good to Great Connections” PowerPoint presentation and all
the additional information provided under the Module 4 content area and taking your Personal
Mission Statement development efforts into consideration, carefully develop your own personal
long term BHAG (***one amazingly HUGE, your world changing goal***). The timeframe for
your BHAG is 10-25 years out, however it will depend upon your age. For example, a 55-year-
old person might be closer to the 10-year BHAG, whereas a 30-year-old or younger person
should be considering a BHAG 25 years out. This BHAG may be related to your overall
life/lifestyle aspirations, or it could be related to some organizational, protean, or
entrepreneurial vision you have for the future. Dig deep and and go beyond the job. That is up to
you. What it needs to be is BIG! HUGE! REALLY HAIRY! STRETCH YOURSELF! LOOK
BEYOND GRADUATE DEGREE! LOOK BEYOND A JOB! HOW WILL YOU MAKE A
DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD???? I RECOMMEND WE MEET TO DISCUSS IT TO
ENSURE ITS HUGENESS.

Answer the following:

1) What is your BHAG?

To become a counselor for counseling religious couples to become an element of imitable

characters in their society. To guide people, learn the connection between marriage, and
the sovereign God.

2) Why is this your BHAG?

I desire to become a counselor on marriage and relationship matters that can yield long-
lasting relationships. The teachings will be more than just the ordinary naked mentorship
that lovers go through before they get married. It will be about showing young and old
couples that the center of their relationships would not just be love that people mistaken
with infatuation, but Christ who is the head of families. The teaching will benefit men to
take responsibilities and be leaders over their partners in a Godly manner.

The reasons why I chose this as my BHAG are many. The first reason is that the modern
world has had numerous relationships and marriage break-ups. While young couples
receive professional counseling when entering serious relationships, there have been no

proper materials that make the couples realize the real picture when they enter these
relationships. The second reason is that people break-up easily nowadays on matters they
could have resolved. This is where my BHAG will come in to help people try to
accommodate and tolerate one another for long-lasting relationships.

3) How does your BHAG align with your vision statement from Module 4?

Vision Statement

To demonstrate marriages and relationships that possess the true image of Christ loves His
church.

Connection between my vision statement and my BHAG statement

My vision statement goes in hand with my BHAG statement as it seeks to apply the daily life
principles with the most relevant spiritual concepts that would be helpful for building
relationships. As a leader, I would like to make my vision compatible with my BHAG
statement as the primary focus will be making couples understand the importance of long-
lasting relationships.

4) How does your BHAG align with your mission statement from Module 4?

Mission Statement

My mission is transforming other people’s families alongside focusing on my family. I

delight in making my family celebrate my accomplishments in making other people’s
families great.

How my mission statement aligns with my BHAG statement

My mission coincides well with my BHAG. I always have my family in in and I would
like to become a professional counselor, who balances his family with his career. I like
my BHAG because it does not necessarily require strict working hours. As working hours
will be flexible, I will have enough time to manage family affairs well.

5) List your top five (5) obstacles in order from number 5 being least difficult and
number 1 being most difficult you need to overcome to obtain your BHAG and
explain the relevance of each one.

Obstacle 1- Establishing a counseling platform that will be acceptable from all marriage
and relationship practitioners that can bring significant developments -most difficult.

This is my hardest obstacle for many reasons. The first reasons are that there has been
technology development in the world, and most people are using social media platforms
to offer counseling. As this does not sound to be a new thing, it will be difficult to make a
breakthrough as many people will think that this is just an ordinary program like others
they have ever seen. I need to achieve my BHAG so that there could be not these kinds of
prejudices.
The best way I could overcome this obstacle is working on creating a program that will
introduce potential clients to the organization. I will do regular recommendations couples
struggling with relationships to seek close attention from nearby professionals.

Obstacle 2- Founding a counseling firm

Obstacle two is the most significant part of the whole process. Although I have an
extensive experience working under the leadership of other people at the seminary,
starting a new firm that offers relationship and marriage support is the most challenging
part. However, I want to closely work with other firms that have been in this industry for
enough time. Together with this organizations, we will work to support people and
individuals interested in spiritual marriage affairs.

Obstacle 3- Becoming the Principle in my Counseling firm

In future I want to become the chief counselor. The chief counselor approves
relationships and marriages upon successful evaluation of the compatibility that couples
demonstrate. The chief counselor directs the Bishop that will be responsible in officiating
marriages and providing spiritual support.
The challenge in this position is that a chief counselor recognized by the state must be
elected by council of churches from various states. This means that the position will
attract several candidates. To overcome the challenge, I will establish an education
initiative to support children that have been affected by parental break-ups.

Obstacle 4- Establishing a community home

As a counseling leader, I need to establish a community home that will provide shelter for
families affected from marriage break-ups. The home will act like a recreation center in
which men and women will be taken through a series of counseling programs. The
challenge in this goal is that the resources that will facilitate this program depends on
sponsorship from well-wishers and other stakeholders. However, I intend to meet with
popular businessmen to bring them on board so that they can support this initiative.

Obstacle 5 -least difficult- Finishing my education

The anticipation to become a great leader could not have crossed my mind had it not been
for the education that I have acquired. Since every sector requires at least bachelor’s
degree, my achievement in education so far is enough to give this leadership position.
The degree will help me apply my knowledge in my firm. The obstacle is the least
obstacle among all, as this is just an obligation that is already fulfilled.

Section 2: Career Vision

Consider your long-term vision for your career. Respond to the following questions, and make
connections to your personal mission statement, your BHAG(s), the themes you developed in
Module 4, and the textbook/supplemental readings (as applicable).

Answer the following:

1) Analyze the type of career you want to have, in terms of an organizational career or
a protean career, make sure it is clear you understand the concepts as outlined in
the textbook. Why?

The analysis of a career I want to have is a protean one. In this career, I have considered
who I am and the experience I have. I am determined to help the community in a different
way than the usual one. The obligation of the organization is to create opportunities for
young people by creating various positions that would help them nurture their ambitions.
As Redondo et al. (2018) understands that protean career has two types of pathways, that
is: direct and indirect pathways.

2) Analyze your career with an explanation as one that moves you up the organization
or one you develop seeking alternative career paths. If you see yourself taking an
alternative career path, which one(s) sound the most likely? Why?

The obstacles identified above are the motivations to make my organization grow and
expand to become an international organization. After completing my education, I delight
to take this career path, as is not just a career but a passion that I will fully focus on.
Because of the developments of the organizations that I need my organization develop, I
will train as a leader through the organization’s development stages.

3) Discuss and explain if you see yourself working an alternative or flexible work
schedule/arrangement? If so, which ones and why?

Although working on full-time basis is one of the successful ways of achieving important
organizational stages, I will train myself to work on flexible hours. Since this a career
that responds to feedbacks, I will freely work at any time of the day if I am requested.
Apart from regular meetings with clients, I will be meeting stakeholders on a regular
basis to set and ascertain important goals. Leadership is one of the crucial determinants of
the success or failure of any organization (Al Khaja, 2018).

4) Research and post current, or past, job postings from your local area, across the
country, or from around the world which illustrate how you might reach your
BHAG. Be sure to provide the Job Title, a small description and why it supports
your BHAG when you provide the URL. Websites such as CareerBuilder, Monster,
or Indeed might be a good place to begin. Also, career-specific websites such as
SHRM.org or AICPA.org often have job postings. Provide 2 listings for each of the

i. Mental Health Coordinator

Description and BHAG Support

Mental health coordinators work with regional directors and supervisors to plan
for treatment programs for menta patients. This position requires an applicant to
possess a bachelor’s degree and it provides an opportunity for gaining outpatient
care experience

Description and BHAG Support

Pre-marital counselor position is meant to help couples navigate through complex

issues. A pre-marital counselor must possess a bachelor’s degree.

Pre-marital counselors will help BHAG identify couples that have issues that are
manageable before the break point.

Description and BHAG Support

Child and adolescent therapists provide specific expertise in child development. Child

especially when families are not working together.

This is an elective position in which council of churches and healthcare

facilities must elect a leader according to their portfolio. It is the highest
position as listed under the BHAG. It will support my leadership qualities
and make me the highest ranking official.

Section 3: Long-Term Strategy

Develop a strategy for moving toward your ideal future work/life situation and the realization of
your BHAG(s). Consider the timeframe for your BHAG(s). Provide a vivid description of life
“the way it will be” once your BHAG is realized.

1) Critically think about and then list out (not a narrative format) the interim steps or
milestones you have laid out for yourself that will aid you in reaching your BHAG
(you should have at least 10 to earn a rating of excellent and be referenced by time)

I. Completing a bachelor’s degree by 2021

II. Obtain a master’s degree in the next three years
III. Get a job as a junior counselor in the next three to five years
IV. Get a job as associate professor in the next five years
V. Promotion to child and adolescent counselor in the next six years
VI. Determined to become regional mental coordinator in the next seven years
VII. Become an entrepreneur in the eighth year
VIII. Vie for the chief counselor position in the next ten years
IX. Become community development coach in the next twelve years
X. Become the community consultant on matters of community development, the goal is
to obtain this in the next thirteen years.

2) In addition to career-related roles, consider your other life roles in relation to your
career goals. Revisit your responses to the Identities Exercise that you completed in
Module 1 of the course. Based on your long-term strategy what are the 3 most
precious things you are willing to sacrifice, besides time, to achieve your BHAG?
Why?

Sacrifice 1 Independent theology tutor

In matters of religion and theology, I enjoy teaching and mentoring both the young and
adults. I have invested a lot of energy on spiritual matters, and I always desire to do this
during my free time. I have this passion that I cannot accept payment from people who
seek godly mentorship, but I will offer every support to any interested person. The
sacrifice will be an advantage to my career by exposing me to interact with many people
with various backgrounds.

Sacrifice 2 Socializing with the needy

While mentoring the community as a community development consultant requires skill

and background understanding, socializing with the needy people in the society will
make me learn various characters. I will learn on how to be patient with people and

accommodate every case in the needy society. This sacrifice is not payable but an
addition to my career experience and expertise acquisition.

Sacrifice 3 Developing my Attitude

Becoming the chief counselor is an elective position that requires high discipline. I will
sacrifice attending personal development programs. Even if the development seminars
require a specific fee, I will incur the expenses if I develop. I am also willing to attend
leadership programs that will uplift me to become a professional in all matters of social
development.

Section 4: The one-to-two-year plan

Using a SMART goals-based approach, as well as project planning and management skill best
practices, create a detailed project plan for at least two specific goals. At least one must be
related to your long-term BHAG. The other may be related to some other aspect of your career
development or career-life integration. Both goals need to be things that you are passionate about
accomplishing.

Your selected goals and SMART plan (see SMART goal information provided in the module)
should be structured based on a one to two-year timeline. It should include specific milestones,
action items, sub-tasks as well as task-related interdependencies as applicable. With respect to
each goal, critically think about what specifically the things are you will do in the next one to
two years to achieve these goals.

Develop a clear and detailed SMART plan, with facilitating goals and steps/actions required
to accomplish your selected goals. It should be evident, by looking at the format and structure
of your plan, that you have developed some significant skills respect to project management.
Include Gantt charts (T) or other visual project representations as you see fit and be sure to
address your approach to tracking/measuring your progress (M).

Goal #2 My second goal that goes in hand with my BHAG is becoming an entrepreneur.
The goal will follow the smart format as illustrated in the following order:

In accomplishing this goal, successful entrepreneurs must fail several times before
they become fully modified. I want to start developing steps towards achieving
this goal by exercising entrepreneurship programs.

b. Measurable

To measure this goal, I will see the milestones I will make in making various
attempts. Should any of the attempts make a positive breakthrough, I will be
ready to become an entrepreneur soon.

c. Attainable

This goal is possibly attainable because there is already established location that
will examine the organization. It will target looking for stakeholders ready to
invest in this organization

d. Relevant

This goal is relevant to my career development and will be key in creating

opportunities to show concrete professionalism.

e. Time-based

The goal will take at most seven years to accomplish
