Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:
Assists with translation of a variety of texts from/to English, Dari and Pashto languages covering a broad
range of subjects dealt with by the United Nations, i.e., political, legal, economic, financial, administrative
and technical.
Attends meetings and assists translators to mediate discussions.
Provides interpretation (consecutive and simultaneous) to UNAMA officials including its principals in
meeting and conference.
Assists senior officials in converting written materials from one language into another, such as books,
publications, or web pages.
Creates a new text in the target language that reproduces the content and style of the original.
Assists with reviewing the translated documents and in matters of terminology and style to ensure
uniformity and quality.
Uses all sources of reference, information and consultation relevant to the text at hand and carried out
any research required.
Assists with the application of computer assisted translation.
Adopts and maintains a certain speed and volume of output, taking into account the difficulty of the text
and the specified deadline.
Facilitates communication for people with limited English proficiency.
Assists translators in translating languages at meetings and conferences.
Interprets both legal terminology and colloquial language.
Reads aloud documents in a language other than that in which they were written.
Assists translators in translating materials and documents into another language.
Accompanies foreign visitors and facilitates communication between the receiving party and visitors.
Adapts a product or service for use in a different language and culture.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) or first level university degree
(bachelor’s degree or equivalent) English language, literature, journalism or other related fields. Training
or prior experience in translation will be highly considered.
Work Experience: For this advertised position, no work experience is required for applicants with a
relevant Master’s degree. However, applicants with a relevant bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 1 year of
progressively responsible/professional and relevant experience in translation language activities with
government, non-governmental or international organization is required.
Other Skills: Good writing skills; high standards of accuracy, consistency and faithfulness to the spirit,
style and nuances of the original text; good grasp of the subject matter; ability to use all sources of
reference, consultation and information relevant to the task at hand; ability to maintain an adequate
speed and volume of output, taking into account the difficulty of the text and the specified deadline, ability
to operate computer particularly typing in English and Dari/Pashto languages.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the position
advertised, fluency in written and oral English is required. Fluency in Pashto and Dari is required.
Special measure:
The minimum relevant work experience for NO-A is reduced to 1 year for applicants with relevant
Bachelor’s degree, instead of the standard minimum requirement work experience of 2 years. The special
measure is extended until 31 December 2021 reduces the minimum required years of relevant work
experience for filling positions for UNAMA General Service and National Professional Officer positions.
The special measure is applicable to all applicants.

adjusts plans and actions as necessary. Uses time efficiently.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Supervisor, Projects leads the field implementation of infrastructure project under the supervision of
S Site Engineer.
The Supervisor will ensure the smooth day-to-day implementation process to ensure that project
objectives are met and that quality targets are reached and maintained as well as to ensure quality
assurance measures and compliance.
Under the direct supervision of S Site Engineer. The Supervisor will oversee and supervise project

Reporting the project progress condition and challenges to S site Eng.
Have ability to solve same small challenges in problems during project progress.

Under the direct supervision of the Access to Justice Project Officer, Educator/Animator will carry out the

as well as on women and child rights and child duties. Through structure and guidance,
animators can create /or reinforce social skills.
Organise daily fun, creative, non-formal education / literacy and numeracy and expressive
activities for women, girls and children in targeted locations according to their specific needs
and age groups,
Take part in weekly meetings at field level to discuss action plan for identified survivors or
vulnerable VAWG/SGBV women, girls and children cases.
Follow-up on the implementation of the curriculum according to NSDP rules.
To assist and guide the preparation of activities / lesson plans, time table of activities,
monthly reports and maintaining its proper record.
To review the methodology of non-formal education and work on relevant aid materials to
enable the children to acquire basic literacy skills.
Collaborate closely with the headmaster / Teachers of the formal education institutes in the
working area, in order to facilitate the integration of children into state schools.
Close relation with the NGOs working in the area and for service providers regarding non
formal education.
Monitoring of children progress through weekly or monthly tests (or other means of

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or relevant to subject
at least 2 – 3 years’ experience in the field of educator/ social animator,
Enough experience in education through games and indoor and outdoor games,
Excellent oral communication and presentation skills in local languages are required.
Good reporting skill and Fluency in local languages and should be able to communicate in
simple English.
Good understanding of Afghan society, their tradition, culture and values.
Appropriate level of Computer knowledge.
