Good speakers and writers use language effectively to be able to persuade an audience for

specific purpose. This ability is called rhetoric. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher, one of the biggest
proponents of the concept of rhetoric. He suggested the three modes of persuasion: ethos, logos,
and pathos, also known as the rhetorical appeals. What follows is Aristotle’s rhetorical triangle

which shows how the three elements must work together to come up with an effective persuasive
speech or piece of writing.

A. The case of Chiong sisters is considered the worst crime at that time in Cebu city. The
police were pressure to transpire the case immediately, so they offered a reward for
those who can tell an information about the Chiong sisters’ murder. For me, I think this

might be the worst crime in Cebu city at that time. For the reason of that, in the
documentary film, they have been providing an article in the newspaper of Philstar that
tells who ever can tells the information about the case can get a reward. Therefore, we
can infer that it is a big case and worst crime that urgently to be solved.
B. In July 16, 1997, the Chiong sister crime was happened at Cebu city. However, Paco
was schooling at that time, his school have recorded attendance; his name was recorded
in the attendance. His school is at Quezon city, but the crime scene happened in Cebu
city. It is impossible to get there in just an hour. Paco is not the killer; he can provide a
strong evidence that he was not go at Cebu city.
C. Chiong family was trying to hide something that they don’t want to share at the media.
According to Leo Lastimosa in the film, the father of Chiong sisters was trusted
lieutenant of one of a major drug lords in the Philippines identified by the congress. Mr.
Chiong handled the service trucking business which was investigated for drug
trafficking. I am strongly agreeing that Mr. Chiong was trying hide something and it is
possible to have another party of suspect that abducted the sisters. Apparently, the police
didn’t investigate another party.

D. Mrs. Chiong has a sister namely, Cheryl Jimenea who was the appointment secretary of

President “Erap” Estrada; the Chiong family can be possibly have a strong connection

E. After Davidson Rusia have testified to the judge, in the hidden detention center, he was
physically abused and repeatedly tortured by the police according to the affidavit of the

controlling by the Chiong family. This justice is very unfair for Paco and the rest of the
suspected persons, they have not given a chance to defend their rights as a Filipino
people.
