Using NTempo
You could just hit play to listen to the scores from the library. But Notion is much more interactive than you
might think! Click the NTempo icon (or Shift+Enter) to enter NTempo performance mode:
Now you can perform your scores in realtime. Look for the NTempo line in each score to know what rhythm
you should be tapping. A walk through tutorial of everything NTempo can do, can be found in:
Help>NTempo Tutorial
Make adjustments
-You might be able to hear our scores playing articulations and dynamics that you can’t actually see on the
page! Go to View>Show Hidden Items to see what we’ve placed in the scores to tweak how the scores
sound.
-You might want to change the panning (putting the Violins on either side of the orchestra for example), or
the overall mix or effects - you can do this by clicking the mixer icon (or Ctrl+/) to open the mixer.
-Concertos - can’t hear the solo instrument or singer? Don’t worry, we’ve often muted the solo instrument in
the mixer, so that the Notion files can act as accompaniment right out of the box. To hear the solo line, just
go into the mixer, and click on the Mute button in that channel.
-Want Notion to save your live performance? Before you start tapping, click the NTempo line, then the
‘Record performance’ icon.
Then start tapping - Notion will remember your tempo changes, so next time round, you can just hit Play
and hear all your custom tempi. Or export as a wav or mp3 file with all your tempo changes reflected in the
audio file
