The only relevant difference between the two is the much higher impact power of the
M16, vs. the ability to add a foregrip and stock on the M4 + auto fire mode. Assuming
you have the attachments, it's essentially a decision between easier control vs. higher
safety from the impact power.
In general, I prefer the M4, but an argument can be made that the M16 is better if you
have fantastic recoil control.
m4 all day. good long range, great short range, full auto with little recoil once you get all
the attachments.
m16 has less recoil. Burst fire has gotten me killed in some encounters where full auto
would have been more suitable and it doesn't seem to do as much damage as the m4.
