Details of Patient Education Content:

 Encouraged the patient to rest painful joints using of splints and maintains a neutral
position. 
 Encouraged the use of stress management techniques such as progressive relaxation,
biofeedback, visualization, guided imagery, self-hypnosis, and controlled breathing.
 Advised the use of therapeutic touch.
 Encouraged and demonstrated to the family members for the frequent changes of
position. Assist the patient to move in bed, supporting affected joints above and below,
avoiding jerky movements.
 Discussed the importance of meticulous compliance with prescribed drug
therapy.
 Advised to the patient and family members to minimize alcohol intake to decrease the
risk for inflammation of the joint.
 Advised to the family member to provide low salt and low fat diet to the client to reduce
inflammation of the joints.
