MODULE 6 ASSIGNMENT 2: (Some of) the many uses of Eulerian graphs in graph theory

(plus some applications).

1. Three things that I significantly learned from the video clip:

The Eulerian Graph was leeway to discover more theorems and ways to graph

something or solve anything involving dots, lines, vertices, paths, design plans, etc. It

was fascinating that this Eulerian Graph can be applied in artistic floor designs i.e. the

“kolam”. Not only that, it was also used in solving the Chinese postman problem. The

purely theoretical geometric analysis was also made applicable to the subject of Biology.

It was amusing that the Graph theory can be applicable to our DNA fragment assembly. It

was right o conclude that Mathematics was nature and that it was a language understood

by everyone because it is innate in us.

2. Three things that are still unclear to me

Perhaps, further researching and practice problems would make it clearer to me

how these three things happen: Eulerian Circuit, Eulerian Path, and Diagram Tracing. It

is still unclear to me and perhaps a bit confusing to differentiate and apply all these in a

particular problem

3. I used to think that

Creativity has nothing to do with the theoretical mind and the Mathematics. I

thought that being able to design didn’t require any maths but instead required that
creative bone in your body and an imagination that was either weird or flexible. Little did

I know that floor plans and/or design would make use oof this type of geometry and

theory to apply designs that are unique to the sight.

4. Three questions that I want to ask about the video

I would like to have further understanding about the Diagram Tracing and the

Eulerian Path and Circuits. Also, I would like to ask if this graph theory would follow

patterns, can it follow patterns in statistics and be used to apply an inference or a

prediction or maybe a probability? Could we use this as a leeway to “graph” a

probability?
