On November 17, 2013, an E-F-4 tornado hit the small town of Washington,
Illinois. Years later, citizens of the town advocate for preparation in case of a
natural disaster.

[Sound-bite: “Everyone needs to be prepared. Put all of your important
documents in a safe, and put that safe in the sturdiest part of your home or
apartment. Have a plan of where you will go if you hear the sirens. You never
think it can happen to you until it does.”]

[Sound-bite:”My family went from standing on the porch whenever we heard the
sirens, to moving important items to the basement during a tornado watch. We
never thought we would ever be impacted by a natural disaster of any sort, we
weren’t prepared. Insurance can not cover items they don’t know you have. Take
a picture of your valuables. It’s better to be safe than sorry.”]

[Stand-up: With warm weather upon us, and the chances of tornadoes here in
the midwest at an all time high, there is no better time to make a plan than now.]
