modernized to a four-lane divided roadway with intersection improvements to add dedicated
turn lanes and upgraded traffic signals, update the drainage system to a closed system, and
provide noise walls.

The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer dollars and is anticipated to have the following
benefits: The project would provide increased access to Laraway Road Metra station for
commuters, modernize an intersection with added capacity and increased safety to addressed
an estimated 77%-130% increase in traffic volumes over the next 20 years, improve access
to primary schools address additional system priorities to increase safety, reduce congestion
and address state of good repair needs on the County’s system.

amenities to the south suburbs and South Side of Chicago. The rapid transit line will include
stations with new buses, heated shelters, real-time bus tracker signs, and running way
improvements.

benefits: This project would improve travel times and waiting areas for a corridor with the
heaviest bus ridership of any suburban corridor. The service will be operated with
compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, meaning residents and commuters in that corridor get
the benefits of reduced pollution.
