Prelab 25%
Circuit wiring 25%
Lab quiz 50%
Prelab: Prelabs are in the lab manual. When complete, prelabs should be submitted to moodle as
a single PDF file. Prelabs will be due the Sunday before the lab is performed.
Circuit Wiring: All students must wire circuits for the labs. Basically, students should follow
the lab procedure in the lab manual, and wire the circuits at home. To be evaluated, students
should photograph their circuits and submit them to moodle. Circuit wiring will be due the
Sunday before the lab is performed.
Please review the images before submission. TA’s must be able to follow the wiring in order
to grade the attempt, and to suggest corrections. At times, multiple images may be required.
To wire circuits at home, all EGR 2400 students must purchase a wiring kit. Information
about how to buy the kit is on the EGR 2400 lab meta-course page.
Lab quiz: After the lab has been performed during in-person labs, or after virtual only students
have watched the lab video, they will need to take a lab quiz. The lab quiz will only be
available after turning in the pre-lab.
Q&A Forum:
All lab related questions should be asked in the Q&A forum on the EGR2400 lab metapage.
Virtual Option:
Normally, all students are required to perform the labs “in-person”. However, due to the ongoing
pandemic, students can opt to perform labs as “virtual-only”. To perform the lab as virtual-only,
please register for the virtual-only lab, CRN 15709. This may require an override in sail.
Material availability:
All videos and materials will be available to all students, whether in-person or virtual only. All
due dates are the same for all students.
Any student who does not complete both the pre-lab and circuit wiring on-time will receive
a grade of “0” for the lab quiz. This includes virtual-only students.
Lab Groups:
There are no groups for Winter EGR 2400 labs. All lab work will be performed individually.
Prelabs will be performed individually. Circuit wiring will be performed individually. In person
labs will also be performed individually. Lab quizzes will also be performed individually.
Lab Flow:
Each lab will consist of the following work-flow:
1. Read the lab manual
2. Watch the lab intro video
3. Perform the pre-lab
4. Wire the circuits, at home, according to lab procedure. (for both virtual-only & in-person)
5. Watch the “Testing the circuit” video
6. Perform in-person labs (virtual-only students won’t do this step). Test equipment will be
available in the lab.
7. Take the lab quiz
