THE SOCIAL IMPACT OF E-BANKING TO ATM USERS AROUND SANGANDAAN: TECHNICAL, NON

TECHNICAL AND SOCIETAL CRISES ENCOUNTERED

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Throughout the years, Automated Teller Machines (ATM) have been an effective tool in giving thr
highest possible convenience to its users; enabling them to conduct banking transactions with thr use of
innovative technologies and management.

According to F. Sepe, 2017 in his news article entitled "BPI says glitch fixed, access to ATMs restored",
technical problems such as internal system error related to transaction mis-posting caused unauthorized
changes to the clients' accounts.

L. Corpuz, 2015 wrote an article entitled "More ATM users share horror stories",which he stated that
skimming information is a common modus operandi of card scammers wherein they copy information
stored in the card's magnetic strip, as well as the personal identification number (PIN) code of an
account holder through fake keypads, hidde cameras or other means.

Statement of the problem

There are still crises arising during the Electronic Banking process such as technical problem, non-
technical and societal problem.This study attempts to identify or narrow down the problems
encountered by the users during the process. This paper will also provide a solution to the given
problem by giving certain recommendations which can be beneficial in improving the society and the
financial welfare of its people.

Objectives of the study

The primary objective of this research disquisition is to grasp insights on advantages and disadvantages
of the electronic banking or also known as 'e-banking' to ATM (automated teller machine) users around
the area of Sangandaan, contributing on their impact on society bounded only within their financial
welfare.

The study aims to:

1. Know the extent of the user's frequency in using e-banking

2. Determine the users' assessment about e-bankinh

3 Evaluate the social impact of e-banking to the users in terms of:

A. Convenience
B. Security

C. Communication with customer contact staff

4. Increase the awareness of users regarding the ways on how to overcome the problems they are
encountering in terms of:

A. Technical

B. Non-technical

C. Societal

Scope and limitations of the study

The primary concentration of thid study is to identify and give awareness regarding the impact of
electronic banking, specifically the crises experienced by the ATM users in terms of technical and non
technical aspect.

Its scope is bounded only to randomly picked users of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) to be conducted
around the area of Sangandaan. The researcherd are still deciding with regards to the exact number of
respondents due to limited time, but they are planning to give 20 survey questionnaires to gather
sufficient information that can support the on-going research.

Significance of the study

The after effect of this study will hugely contribute significance to the following entities:

D. Police Authority

E. People affiliated to media and communication
