INTRODUCTION:

Communication is the act of conveying meanings from one entity

or group to another through the use of mutually understood signs,
symbols, and semiotic rules. The main steps inherent to all
communication are: The formation of communicative motivation
or reason.
Communications is fundamental to the existence and survival of
humans as well as to an organization. It is a process of creating and
sharing ideas, information, views, facts, feelings, etc. among the
people to reach a common understanding.
DETAILED INFORMATION:
Technology is the collection of techniques, skills, methods, and processes
used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of
objectives, such as scientific investigation.
Technology has both positive as well as negative side.
Due to development of technology our lifestyle has been improved.
Technology has an impact on each and every field and even in
communication.
CHANGES:
Due to technology, there’s been a movement away from face-to-
face meetings/communications. People started using video
conferencing.
Technology is more portable and has an easy access to internet so
people mostly prefer technology for daily lifestyle.
Invention of electric equipments like mobile phones makes it easier
for people to contact each other.
Due to this latest technology, it takes less time to get in touch with
persons living far away.
BENEFITS:
1. Speed/time: Money and time cam be saved because it’s much
quicker to move information around.
2. Cost: It’s easy to send an email; the cost is much lesser than phone
calls. Due to internet, video conferencing saves money for conducting
a meeting and also saves the cost of flight and accommodations.
3. Online communication: Brings families and friends together who
are staying abroad.
4. Education: It’s accessible and there’s lot of information and
knowledge available for students to refer.
Positive impact:
1. No barriers: Communication is now easy; in case of situations when
you want to convey a message urgently to someone mobile phones
and emails are in handy.
2. E-schools: Service like video-conferencing has made it possible to
give the best education to students via expert faculty on the web.
3. Better development solutions: Technology has brought the world
closer and promoted exchange of thoughts to find better solutions to
any problem. Advancements in the modes of communication have
promoted faster decision-making, and led to the development and
progress of the world. Most businesses depend on technology for
communication.
1. Negative impact of technology on interpersonal
communication: The current generation lacks essential
interpersonal skills (the ability to express the ideas and thoughts to
others, face-to-face). A major reason for this is the increased
frequency of communication through texting and chatting on
websites. This has an effect on nonverbal communication as well.
Technological means have also affected nonverbal communication.
Lack of face-to-face interaction has reduced the nonverbal grasping
power of individuals.
2. Technology weakens family relations: Many teenagers are
always hooked to the social networking sites. They are closer to
online friends, but the gap between parents and kids has increased
considerably. Communication is lacking, as parents are not techno-
savvy to the communication styles of the kids, increasing the
generation gap. Consider socializing among people. Life has
changed a lot; very few social meetings and get-togethers are held
these days. People are more bothered about their online life, than
their real social life.
3. Unlawful and Addiction to technology: Modern communication
technology has led to many problems. People have become addicted
to the Internet and cell phones, and this has led to many anxiety
disorders. People addicted to the Internet feel lonely and isolated.
Many people abuse social networking sites and communicate with
unsuspecting victims pretending to be someone else. This tendency
has done more harm than good.
4. Spam: Spam refers to unwanted and unsolicited email messages.
When we speak of spam in reference to unsolicited commercial
email (commonly abbreviated to UCE) the acronym S-P-A-M does
not stand for anything to do with messaging or email. Spam is
widespread has a negative impact on business.

6. “Technology is a useful servant, but a dangerous

master.” – "Christian Lous Lange."
CONCLUSION:
As you can see technological communication is a double-edged sword. It
all depends on how we use these means; use the technological means of
communication for sane purposes, and don't abuse them for malicious
motives.
There is a huge growth in the use of online communication, however we
cannot tell this is this a good or bad thing. There are many advantages as
well as disadvantages to technology and online communication.
