One of the most powerful freedoms Americans have is the ability to make our own

choices. This liberty is not available to all, however Rand, author of Anthem Vonnegut, author of

“Harrison Bergeron” and Niccol director of Gattaca all have the same characters in common.

Who have to realize what is really going on in their in order to regain their worlds. Vincent,

Harrison, and Equality their all have to open their eyes to what they know and feel inside

themselves. there might be one percent chance that they can changes their worlds from being a

place were everyone has to be on the same level, or a place where they all have to have

somebody with them at all times. These restrictions force equality , Vincent and equality to rebel

against their societies so that they can choose for themselves .

Vincent, Harrison, and Equality have been told that they were only expected to do what

everyone does. They all know that they can do more a they are expected to do and to know about

the world around them. There is more than what meet the eyes of Vincent, Harrison, and

Equality.

Vincent’s birth revels that he will suffer many problems, so he will not be given the

chance to reach his dreams. The doctors predict that he will only live to be 32 years and become

a janitor. The 99 percent chance of him suffering a heart problem stands in the way of him

getting into Gattaca’s space program. His father even tells that the only way that he can get close

to Gattaca requires that he become a part of Gattaca’s janitorial staff. But he has a one percent

chance of getting there. Even if he dies in space, they will know that he got there. He overcame

the odds against him and achieves his dream

In Harrison’s society no one can be smarter than anyone, better looking than anyone or

different from anybody. They are not supposed to think more than what others can think. And if

they are smarter, or better looking than anybody, then they have to wear masks and weights

People who are smarter than others have to wear these hearing devices that go of every seconds.

The reason that they we to wear these dances so they wouldn’t have smarter thoughts then

anybody else and if they take them off or some of the weights, out they would get a fine for

every ball taken out. Harrison knows that everybody is not the same and everyone has different

things about them. They can’t force people to do what they think is right. They all have different

choices among themselves. Like the other charters he to has to overcome this belief that

everyone has to have the same thing.

Equality has the easiest job of the street sweeper. He becomes more aware of what is

going on. They all have the same brothers and sisters and they can’t look each other in the eyes.

That would be singling everyone out and that would be a sin. equality and his brothers You have

to be with somebody at all times. He comes to realize that this is not how the world is supposed

to be. People can be by themselves and only come to love just one person. This society tells the

brothers this way of thinking is wrong. You cant just love one person or be by yourself or say the

unspeakable word “I. They were meant to different thing . They were not meant to act like

mindless zombies an do what they have been told. They should all have a choice to do what they

want to do and what to say about it just like Harrison.

All three of these charters have had to overcome their odds. Vincent had a one percent

chance of living with this heart problem Harrison tell the world about the changes that they need

to make in the world and Equality gets his point across that everyone needs somebody in their

life. All of these story tell something about how their society could become like mindless

zombies and just do what they have been told to do every day without question.
