Good morning, everyone,

I am Li Ming from Senior 3 and it’s great honor to stand here and share my experience. After
winning the city’s first prize of the model aeroplane competition last week, I’m often approached
with the question: How could you manage to strike a balance between the heavy study and your
hobby? Frankly speaking, my good performance in the competition is mainly down to my
perseverance and balanced schedule.
My passion for model aeroplane making keeps me on this path for almost ten years, and I’ve
grasped solid basic skills, which lays the foundation for my success today. However, as more and
more classes and homework we have in senior three, I spent less and less time making model
aeroplanes. Even so, I am still trying best to spare time every weekend. With hobby alternating with
study, I have to make a schedule to balance my life of study and hobby.
From Monday to Friday, I focus on my study and try to finish homework as much as possible
during breaks. If I still have some spare time at night, I will read books to consolidate my knowledge
and watch competition videos about model aeroplanes to learn other’s practice skills. At weekends,
I am sure to make two hours each day for making model aeroplanes. My teacher is always there to
help point out where I need to correct or practise more. As the old saying goes, “No play makes Jack
a dull boy.” My hobby time provides me with more energy and concentration on my study.
To be honest, my schedule is tight but it works perfectly for me. Under the heavy pressure of
study, hobby is the best way to adjust myself. It is making model aeroplanes that teaches me the
importance of perseverance and accompanies me through the boring and intense senior three life.
I hope my experience might be inspiring for you, and I do hope you will insist on what you
love and never give it up.
