WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF

'ADDICTION'?
As the saying goes, “Curiosity kills
the cat.” That proved to be the case
for Abdullah when he succumbed
to drug addiction. At first, the drugs
gave him a temporary joy. This is
what exactly makes drugs
addicting. This phase of short-term
happiness can deceive us and cloud
our judgement. He deluded himself
into thinking that he could stop
anytime, not knowing that he was
slowly increasing dependency on
drugs.
After the so-called “joyful phase” had passed, Abdullah
found himself declining into severe drug addiction. Due to his
increased dependency, he couldn’t stop taking drugs and found it
hard to stay away. This
also damaged his finances as he even stated that money was not an
obstacle to his addiction. His addiction had led him to jail and
numerous treatment centers.
However, due to the ineffective methods that the treatment centers
used, he relapsed into his drug addiction as soon as he was free.

This was the case for him until he was transferred to the National Rehabilitation
Centre (NRC) wherein he wasn’t treated as a criminal For his addiction and received
effective treatment from the specialists. With That, Abdullah has been drug-free for
the last three and a half years.
