Alexander Gardner Scene From All My Sons

The scene in question is from All My Sons and starts on the top of page 45 with Chris’s

line: “What’s the matter, George, what’s the trouble?” and ends on the bottom of page 48 with

Ann’s line: “You understand? Don’t...George, you’re not going to start anything now!” So page

numbers are 45-48 (Although I have no idea what the page numbers are for the other book that

doesn’t have condensed written version of this play).

I chose All My Sons over Getting Out because I couldn’t visually see how I could work

with a scene from Getting Out. The play just doesn't resonate with me as well as All My Sons,

which I can visually see how to work a scene in this play and how to place my actors throughout

the scene. I chose this scene to do because I can sense the tension between George and Chris and

I believe I can make that tension appear on stage with my actors. It’s a great scene as we start to

build up towards the final shout match between Keller and Chris, but I felt getting this scene on

stage would be more prominent because it shows that Chris starts to defend his father, even when

George starts making good points about Keller. George is also trying to get Ann to come home

with him so that she has nothing to do with Chris and his father, all the while Ann is also trying

to play both sides of the tension fight, because Chris is her lover and George is her brother.

Chris, George, Ann are all in this scene, so I will be requesting 2 male actors and 1

female actor.
