 My Celebrity Crush: Ryan Gosling
INTRODUCTION

I. Attention Getting Opener: A famous person once said “I’ve learned it’s important not to
limit yourself. You can do whatever you really love to do, no matter what it is” (IMDb,
n.d.). This famous person is Ryan Thomas Gosling who is also my celebrity crush.

II. Preview: In this speech, I would like to tell the three main reasons as to why Ryan Gosling
is my celebrity crush.
a. He is an attractive person
b. He has many talents
c. He is active in charity work

Transition 1: So, shall we get started to my first point? My first point is…

I. He is an attractive person.
a. His style of clothing is simple but fits well. (Arthur, 2018)
b. His face is very good-looking. (Arthur, 2018)
c. His hairstyle makes him look very handsome. (Arthur, 2018)

Transition 2: Other than being an attractive person, he also has many talents that make him
become a famous person.

II. He also has many talents.

b. He is a singer who has his own soundtracks (IMDb, n.d.).
c. He has skills in producing films (IMDb, n.d.).

Transition 3: So, it has been proven that Ryan Gosling has many experiences that has lead him to
become a successful artiste. Next, we will move on to the last point.

III. He is active in charity work.

a. He supported an event for an American animal rights organization (PETA, 2018).
b. He supported a project that called as Enough Project (UNILAD, 2018).
c. He supported an event with the Silverlake Conservatory of Music (Pitchfork, 2009).
Transition 4: Now that I have explained all three of my main points, my speech is almost coming
to an end.

I. Summary: I’m pretty sure that you have now learned a lot about the famous celebrity
Ryan Gosling as well as the fact that he deserves to be recognized for his amazing talents
and his kind personality.

INTRODUCTION

I. Attention Getting Opener: Attention Getting Opener: A famous person once said “I’ve
learned it’s important not to limit yourself. You can do whatever you really love to do, no
matter what it is” (IMDb, n.d.). This famous person is Ryan Thomas Gosling who is also
my celebrity crush.

II. Preview: In this speech, I would like to tell the three main reasons as to why Ryan Gosling
is my celebrity crush.
a. He is an attractive person
b. He has many talents
c. He is active in charity work

Transition 1: So, shall we get started to my first point? My first point is

BODY
He is an attractive person. The reasons why I stated that he is attractive is because
according to Arthur (2018), who is a critic of men’s style, Ryan Gosling has a style that makes him
look fit but simple. The outfits that he chooses really fits well with his height.
For example, he likes to wear clothes that are slim fit and tailored to his lean physique.
Also, when it comes to his casual style, Ryan often wears jeans and a shirt paired with a pair of
boots. Overall, he will always make sure that his outfit is slim fit so that it can help him look
smart or casual. Besides that, he has a very good-looking face. This is because Ryan has a long
face which is very proportionate. This means that his face is perfectly structured as if he has no
flaws because of his slim and small nose. Also, the colour of his eyes are blue which is very
beautiful and really suits him. Then, he has his own hairstyle that makes him look handsome. As
seen from his picture in my slide, Ryan tends to keep his hair short and it is often slicked back
and really suits his long face. Therefore, these are the supporting reasons that make him an
attractive person in the world of celebrities.

Transition 2: Other than being an attractive person, he also has many talents that make him
become a famous person.
 His most important talent is that he is very proficient in his acting until he has won
several awards. For your information, according to the editors of The Famous People (2018),
Ryan Gosling has been acting since he was a teenager in the comedy series “Breaker High” from
1997 to 1998. The series is about a group of students that attend high school on a cruise ship.
According to IMDb (n.d.), he has won the award for Best Male Lead at the Film
Independent Spirit Awards for the drama film “Half Nelson”. He also received an award at the
Golden Globes for Best Performance by An Actor in a Motion Picture due to his acting in the film
“La La Land”. The very famous film is about Sebastian, a jazz pianist and Mia, an aspiring actress,
who meet and fall in love while pursuing their dreams in Los Angeles. Besides acting, he is also a
singer who has his own soundtracks. In the film “La La Land”, he has sung two soundtracks along
with his co-star Emma Stone and they received really good reviews. Another talent of his is his
skills in producing films. From 2010 to 2014, he was very diligent in producing films. He has
produced a total of four films and a documentary. Overall, all the films that he produced are
films that are motivational and educational. This films also give inspirations to people.

Transition 3: So, it has been proven that Ryan Gosling has many experiences that has lead him to
become a successful artiste. Next, we will move on to the last point.

Besides being an artiste, he is also active in many charity works. For example, he
supported an event for an American animal rights organization which is called People for the
Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). PETA’s motto is that “animals are not ours to eat, wear,
experiment on, or use for entertainment”. According to them, Ryan Gosling wrote a letter to the
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on PETA’s behalf as an act to protect chickens and
turkeys in factory farms. Due to his bravery for supporting animal rights, he was announced in
the PETA OSCATS as Best Animals Friendly Films and Stars in 2017.
Next, he supported a project called Enough Project. It is a project organized by the
Center for American Progress to end war and crimes against humanity. According to UNILAD
(2018), he has worked with the project’s Founding Director, John Prendergast since 2007. In
2010, the pair visited eastern Congo in Africa to meet with human rights defenders and survivors
of ongoing violent conflicts. Besides that, he also supported an event for the Silverlake
Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California which is aims to teach beginners as well as
successful musicians of all skill levels. According to PitchFork (2009), Ryan and his friend Zach
Shields have been in a band called Dead Man’s Bones since 2007. Their entire album is a
collaboration with the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir. They got inspired by the musical
classroom in Langley Schools Music Project so they decided to involve the children from the
choir. This shows that Ryan Gosling is a very generous man when it comes to charity work.
