"For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I
will help you." (Isaiah 41:13).
Welcome to the month of May, 2021. As the Lord lives, you and your
family will enjoy consistent divine help this month and beyond. We will be
taking a teaching series on principles of enjoying consistent divine help,
using David - the man who enjoyed "day by day" help -as a major
character.
This daily devotional guide is released monthly for free, and this is the
eight edition. Study it with a meek spirit. Remember, it takes meekness to
learn from God (Isaiah 61:1, Matthew 11:29, James 1:21).
There is a section for daily scripture-based prayers. Engage them with all
your heart. There is also a section for finishing the Bible in a year. I
encourage you to follow it daily. This daily devotional guide is to be
studied along with your Bible. It is not to replace your Bible. No book can
replace the Bible.
As you study this guide, I pray that you increase in the Knowledge of
Christ, as you become more and more like Him.
Happy new month. It's our month of divine help, and still our year of
enjoying all-round peace. Remain ever blessed!

CITY OF GOD MINISTRIES
WORD FOR YOU // SATURDAY
MAY 1, 2021
You cannot be greater than the level of help you enjoy. To help is to “make
easier or possible for someone to do something by offering one’s services or
resources.” Without help, life will be a struggle and destinies will be frustrated.
The fact is, somebody has what you need. Somebody knows what you should
know, and somebody has the experience you lack. The boy Moses would be
the greatest leader the world has ever seen (after Jesus). But he would have
died even before he started living if he didn’t have the help of Pharaoh’s
daughter.
David, the anointed of God and Israel’s greatest King would not have lived
long enough to become king. King Saul would have killed him before his time.
But thankfully, he had help from Jonathan, Saul’s son. No man is self-made.
No man can achieve much on his own outside the help made available to him.
We are all products of God’s grace and help. To be helpless is to be hopeless.
Even our Lord Jesus Christ had help right from his childhood. The wise men
didn’t go back to Herod to disclose His location and identity. Otherwise, Herod
would have slain Him. And when he began His ministry He didn’t lack help.
Luke’s gospel, chapter 8, verses 2 to 3 tells us how certain women “ministered
unto Him of their substance.” So Jesus was not always getting money from the
fish mouth. Some people were supporting His ministry with money and
material resources. What about when He was being led away to be crucified?
Somebody had to help Him with the cross; Simon, the Cyrenian. (Luke 23:26).
The help Jesus Christ enjoyed didn’t stop there. After His death, Joseph of
Arimathaea, a counselor went to Pilate and begged for the body of Jesus. He
took his body, wrapped it and laid it in a new sepulcher.
You need help too. May you never lack help. God will connect you with
destiny helpers and destiny actualizers. God Himself will help you in the name
of Jesus!
WORD FOR YOU // SATURDAY
MAY 1, 2021
Prayer:
Father, I thank You for being my ever-present help in times of
need, in the name of Jesus. Psalm 46:1
Psalm 20:2, “Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of
Zion.” Help has a location and David knew it. He didn’t get those day by day
help by chance. Help is in Zion, God’s sanctuary. Little wonder David’s
constant desire was to dwell in the house of the Lord. “One thing have I
desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his
temple.” (Psalm 27:4). He rounded up one of his most popular song like this:
“…and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6).
Friend, help is in Zion! Obadiah 17 says “But upon mount Zion shall be
deliverance, and there shall be holiness: and the house of Jacob shall possess
their possessions.” Dwell in Zion. Don’t miss church. That’s where help is.
“Sing, O daughter of Zion, shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem.” (Zephaniah 3:14). Why? Why should you rejoice and
be glad? “The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He
will rejoice over thee with joy: He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee
with singing.” Stay in Zion, help is there for you. Peace!
WORD FOR YOU // SUNDAY
MAY 2, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, send me help from
your sanctuary, and strengthen me from Zion.
Psalm 20:2
If you will enjoy God’s help, something must happen first: He needs to hold
your hands. He needs to lead and guide you. The amount of help you enjoy, is
proportional to the divine leading you submit to. If you will let God hold your
hand and lead you, then you are in for big time help and sweatless victory.
Come and see what happens when God holds you and lead you.
Isaiah 45:1-3, “Thus saith the Lord to his anointed to Cyrus, whose right hand I
have holden, to subdue nations before him: and I will loose the loins pf Kings, to
open before him the two leaved gates: and the gates shall not be shut; I will go
before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of
brass and cut in sunder the bars of iron: And I will give thee the treasures of
darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord
which call thee by name, and the God of Israel.”
Did you notice how God was saying, “I will," "I will”? When God leads you, He
fights your battle for you. You become His responsibility. I is ironical how many
believers pray for God’s help, yet they want to do things their own way. They
want to lead themselves, and still have God’s blessings. It doesn’t happen that
way. If you will enjoy God’s help, you’ve got to say, “Lord, take my hand. Lead me
and do to me how it pleases you.” And He would hold your hand and say, “Follow
me, and I will make you!” (Matthew 4:19) It is only God who can make man. No
man can even bless you outside God’s permission. Don’t rebel against divine
instructions that will be tantamount to kicking against your help.
Let God shepherd you, He knows where the green pastures and still waters
are. Just give Him your hand, He wants to help you. Praise God!
WORD FOR YOU // MONDAY
MAY 3, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, according to
your word, send me help. Hold my hand and
help me Lord!
Don’t fall into the trap of putting your trust in man. It comes with a curse:
“Thus saith the Lord; cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his
arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:5). Some people
trust in their riches, some in their intellect, others in their connections. But our
trust and help is in the name of the Lord our God. For “the name of the Lord is a
strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and its safe.” (Proverbs 18:10). Help is
in the name of our God. Call upon Jesus. He is our ever-unfailing help. “For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”. (Romans 10:13).
Those who look unto God for help, will be lightened and their faces won’t be
ashamed. (Psalm 34:5)
My Father Bishop David Oyedepo told the story of how God asked him to
make his eyes look up and look down at the same time. He tried it, but
couldn’t. So God told him, “Never claim to be looking up to Me, when you are
looking to man.” I think you should try it too. Look up and down
simultaneously. It’s practically impossible right? So it is impossible for you to
look up to God for help, and look down to man for help at the same time. If
you will enjoy God’s help, then you will look up to Him.
There is no one who look up to God, that can end in shame. It’s sad how
believers will look for solution everywhere in times of trouble, and forget to
look up to God. Many has made God their last resort. When other options
have failed, they will remember God. James, writing to the church, gave this
important charge, “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray.” (James
5:13b NIV). Of course, God can always use man for you in order to help you.
But it is not in your place to choose human help for yourself.
Psalm 121:1-2; “I will lift up mine eyes unto hills, from whence cometh my
help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Selah!
WORD FOR YOU // TUESDAY
MAY 4, 2021
Declaration:
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but I trust the
name of the LORD my God. For the Lord will help me,
therefore I will not be ashamed.
Our Lord Jesus Christ in His famous sermon on the mountain preached,
“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” (Matthew 5:7). Who are
those qualified to obtain mercy? The merciful! Let this truth guide your
conduct, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that
shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7). The rule of life is quite simple: “What do you
want? Give it!” If you sow the seed of kindness, you will reap kindness. You
desire God’s mercy, be merciful unto others. You want to enjoy divine help,
help others. Life is a seed, and living is seeding. Don’t close your eyes to the
needs of others if you want your needs met too. There’s something you have
that others need.
Never send anybody who needs your help back empty when it is in your
capacity to help. Your life will attract whatever you give; albeit in greater
measure. Every opportunity to help others is an opportunity to get help. Don’t
miss it. The tragedy of life is that too many people go about looking for help
while there is help all around them. The help they need is in helping others
with what they need. The one who helps others cannot lack help. Psalm 37:25,
“I have been young, and now I’m old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,
nor his seed begging for bread.” What’s with this “righteous” the Bible is talking
about here? See the next verse, “He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is
blessed.” This man is ever merciful. He is always lending a helping hand, and so
he just can’t be forsaken. Even his children, and children’s children will never
have to beg. His reward is generational.
Beloved, God has promised to send you help this month and beyond. But see
to it that you’re helping others. It’s a spiritual law: “He that watereth shall be
watered also of himself.” (Proverbs 11:25). Grace!
WORD FOR YOU // WEDNESDAY
MAY 5, 2021
Prayer:
Father, send me help and helpers, in the name of Jesus.
BE EXPECTANT
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall
not be cut off.
PROVERBS 23:18 (KJV)
A life without hope is no life. You stop living when you stop hoping. Hope is a
feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen. Be on the
look out. Help is coming for you this month. To expect nothing is to get
nothing. Bishop David Oyedepo said, “Expectation is the mother of
manifestation.” Someone also said, “What you don’t expect, you can’t experience.”
In Luke’s gospel chapter 2 verse 25, the Bible tells us about a man called
Simeon, who was “waiting for the consolation of Israel”. In other words, this
man was expectant. And because of this he experienced his expectation. He
could then say in verse 30; “For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.”
What do you do while waiting or expecting God’s promises? Firstly, you need
to talk about it, say “I know God will help me and I will not be ashamed”. Say, “I
can’t be stranded for my help is here.” Talk about it confidently with your family,
friends and neighbours. You don’t need to be ashamed. The Bible says, “And
hope maketh not ashamed…” (Romans 5:5).
Another thing you need to do as you are expecting divine help is to give God
thanks for it already. Say, “Father I thank you for sending me the help I need in
my business. Oh! Thank you for I will not be put to shame.” As you are doing this,
you are committing God’s integrity to fulfill His promises in your life. One
thing is certain: help is coming for you. Don’t give up! Psalm 27:13(NKJV); “I
would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the
Lord I the land of the living.”
You see that? David would have given up, had he not believed that he would
see the Lord’s goodness. Don’t give up. Wait! Help will surely come for you.
Amen!

YOKED (1)
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall
be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from
off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of
the anointing. ISAIAH 10:27 (KJV)
According to oxford Advanced learner’s dictionary, a yoke is a long piece of
wood that is fastened across the necks of two animals, especially oxen, so they
can pull heavy loads. This piece of wood could also be shaped to fit across a
person’s shoulders so that they can carry two equal loads. Spiritually, the
forces of darkness can afflict a man with the yoke of hardship, oppression or of
any kind. The devil is a wicked devil. There are spiritual wickedness in high
places (Ephesians 6:12). However, there is a provision to breaking the yoke of
the devil. And this provision is the anointing. “…and the yoke shall be destroyed
because of the anointing”. (Isaiah 10:27)
The Israelites were yoked with hardship: “…and the children of Israel sighed by
reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto God by reason of
the bondage”. (Exodus 2:23). So what was the solution? What did God do? He
sent His servant, his anointed; Moses. There was also a time Israel was
delivered into the hand of the Philistines for forty years. Forty years of
oppression. What’s the way out? God sent Samson, the anointed. When
mankind was under was under the burden and yoke of sin. God, the ever-
loving couldn’t take it anymore. So He sent Christ; The anointed and His
anointing. (See John 3:34, Luke4:18, Acts10:38)
A young lady was introduced to me. She had been under the oppression of the
evil one. An evil spirit was always harassing her in her sleep. When she wakes
up, the effect of the intercourse will be as real as if it is was physical. I asked
her if she could fast and pray. She replied, “I’ve done that several times”. I told
her not to worry. We prayed and fasted with her. On the first night, the evil
spirit appeared to her already injured in his hand. He had lost his grip over her.
When he appeared again after the final night of the prayer. The young lady
beat him up and tied the evil spirit with chain. The oppressed suddenly became
the oppressor. Glory to Jesus!
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been under that oppression or bondage.
Today, I break that yoke off your life, family and marriage in the name of Jesus.
By the blood of Jesus, you are free indeed! Oh! Praise God!
WORD FOR YOU // FRIDAY
MAY 7, 2021
Prayer:
YOKED (2)
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and
gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
MATTHEW 11:29 (NLT)
It is true that anointing breaks the yoke of the evil one. However, a more
important truth is that the anointing won’t sustain that freedom for too long.
How do I mean? You see, you must always carry a yoke. So if you don’t want to
carry the yoke of the devil, you must carry the yoke of Christ. Meaning that as
the anointing breaks the yoke of darkness off a man’s neck, he must quickly
take the yoke of Christ upon him. This is why when God sent Moses to deliver
the children of Israel from the Egyptian’s bondage, He kept repeating a
statement, “Let My people go that they may serve me.” If they won’t serve the
Lord, the devil has every right to make them serve him.
The good news is, the yoke of Jesus is easy: “For my yoke is easy, and my burden
is light.” (Matthew 11:30). This yoke is the yoke of service, as you’ve been saved
from sin and death, then you must now serve the living God. You are saved to
serve. Too many times, Israel went back into bondage and captivity, when they
stop serving the Lord. The choice is yours. Joshua 24:15, “…Choose you this day
whom ye will serve.”
There are lots of Christians today doing nothing in church. They think they are
saved to dancing and just be listening to sermon. They are too big or busy to
serve in any unit. Ignorantly, they are entering into the bondage of the devil.
Service is the way to remain free from oppression of any kind. Service also
confers God’s blessings and sound health. Exodus 23:25, “And ye shall serve the
Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take away
sickness away from the midst of thee.”
There are certain blessings you can’t get by prayer and fasting, but by service.
Take the yoke of Christ upon. Serve the living God. Keep serving and keep
pursuing the interest of God’s kingdom. Grace!

Declaration:
Father, in the name of Jesus, grant me the grace for
tireless kingdom service.
YOKED (3)
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do
righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what
fellowship can light have with darkness?
2 CORINTHIANS 6:14 (NIV)
I’m only saying that this scripture is talking about relationship as a whole. As
believers you should not find yourself in any close relationship with
unbelievers. That’s not discrimination. That’s wisdom. Anytime you do what the
word of God says, you’re walking in wisdom.
Don’t tell me that your best friend and confidant is an unbeliever, for what?
What communion does light has with darkness? Some Christians will even say
that some unbelievers are better than most believers. Hmmn. “That which is
born of the flesh is flesh…” (John 3:6). They can be your acquaintances,
colleagues, bunkmates. You can read and gist together. But never be unequally
yoked together with them. God has called you out of darkness into light, and
light and darkness cannot dwell together. Don’t say you are strong and can’t be
influenced. That’s a deception of the devil.
From the moment the Bible says. “And Amnon had a friend, whose name was
Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David’s brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man"
(2Samuel 13:3), you could tell that Amnon won’t end well. The moment Dinah
went out to see the daughters of the land, she was in trouble. (Genesis34).
Come out from among them; your friend can’t be a slay queen, a marlian, a
smoker, drunkard or a fornicator. Be ye separate. And incase you still need to
be reminded, you should never marry an unbeliever!
WORD FOR YOU // SUNDAY
MAY 9, 2021
What to do:
Disassociate yourself from every ungodly relationship
you are into.
MARRIAGE IS GOOD
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man
should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
GENESIS 2:18 (KJV)
Marriage is the only institution created by God before sin entered into the
world. I've heard people talk about marriage as if marriage is evil. Some talks
about it like it's just a way into bondage. Many worship their experiences
above God's word. Because some people have broken homes and failed
marriages doesn't invalidate God's word. Marriage is good. God said it is not
good that the (wo)man should be alone. Therefore, it is good that a (wo)man is
married.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward
for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but work to him that is
alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie
together then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail
against him, two shall withstand him; and a three fold cord is not quickly broken."
Good gifts come from God. James1:17 tells us that every good gift and every
perfect gift is from God. The good news is that God has promised us in His
word that we will not lack any good thing. Psalm 34:10, "The young lions do lack
and stuffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord Sha not want (lack) any good thing."
Matthew 7:11 in the latter part of it, Jesus said, "How much more shall your
father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" Receive this
good gift of marriage now in the name of Jesus! To every home experiencing
one storm or the other. I declare: Peace, be still!
WORD FOR YOU // MONDAY

Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, help me never to miss it in
the place of marriage. Let my home be heaven on earth.
NEW CREATION
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old
things have passed away; behold, all things have become
new.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:17 (NKJV)
You are not a changed person. You are a new person. God didn’t do some
additions and subtractions in you. He didn’t renovate you. You know you can
get somewhere and say, “Things have really changed here.”? Probably because
the roads have been tarred, street lights are now everywhere, new buildings
and all. But it’s still the same old place. You could get new upholstery in your
car, change the tyres, service the engine and re-paint it. But it’s still the same
car.
Now, that’s not what God did to you and I. He didn’t build on the old us. He
simply created a new us. We are a new creation; brand new! This is why the
Bible says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.” As long as you’ve
accepted Christ as your Lord and savior, you are a new person. The old person
was not worked on or improved on. No! God began again. He created a new
you. And in case you are in doubt, Paul continued, “Old things are passed away"
They no longer exist. You’re not that liar anymore. That prostitute no longer
exist. That drug addict is dead. You can’t live a fulfilled Christian life if you think
that God just gave you the chance to start again when you got born again.
That’s not it!
You see, this is why salvation is the greatest miracle that can ever happen. It is
a miracle that a man after saying the salvation prayer died, and God created a
new man; a new spirit. This is why I know that I cannot be under any
generational curse. The man under such curses has died. He no longer existed.
A born again sister says she’s under some marital siege. Hey! Who told you
that?
You’re a new creation. I know what the problem is. It’s our mind, we got a new
spirit, not a new soul and body. So our mind is trying to mess up. You still tell
lies, backbite or even fornicate. Your mind still tells you that you are who you
are not. What’s the solution? You need a new mind! We will look at that shortly.
Grace and peace be unto you!
WORD FOR YOU // TUESDAY
MAY 11, 2021
Declaration:
I am born again. I am forgiven, washed and sanctified. I
am justified of the Lord. I am in Christ. I am a new
creation. Old things have passed away. All things have
become new.
While talking about the new man, apostle Paul used some strong words,
particularly in his epistle to the Romans. In verse 4 of Romans chapter 6, he
says “we should walk in newness of life.” So, even though we are now a new
man, we still have to walk in newness of life. The moment Paul said this, shows
that it is something we can do. He wouldn’t have said that if we do not have
the capacity to do it. Look at verse 12. “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal
body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” Again, Paul’s speech here
signifies that we have the power to choose. We can let sin reign in our body,
and we can also say, “No! am not letting sin reign in my body”. How is this
possible? Where do we get this strength from? Verse 7, “For he that is dead is
freed from sin.” And now that you are in new creation, “Sin shall not have
dominion over you”. (verse 13). Not anymore!
When a believer is “struggling with sin”, the devil; a liar and a deceiver, would
tell him that that’s just who he is. Then such people would say things like, “I just
can’t help it”. “I can’t stop cursing.” You know what? You can! You’ve been
empowered to live above sin now. You can stop lying. You can say a big no to
that addiction.
But firstly, you need to know that you can walk in newness of life in Christ
Jesus, the one who strengthens you. And no matter how many times you fall
and rise, know for sure that you are not a sinner, but a child of God. One that
is sanctified. A righteous being in Christ. You just need to master how to walk
in newness of life. That’s your responsibility. How to respond to this ability in
you is in Bible. Come and see!
WORD FOR YOU // WEDNESDAY
MAY 12, 2021
Declaration:
Am dead to sin. Sin does not have dominion over me
anymore. I've been empowered by the Holy Ghost to
walk in newness of life.
When you received Christ, you got a new spirit; a regenerated spirit connected
to God. The challenge is you didn’t get a new mind or a new body. This why
Jesus said, “The Spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26: 41).
Flesh there means the body, as the Amplified Bible puts it. Your new spirit is
ever-willing to align with God’s will. The resistance is from the body, and this is
because the body takes instruction from the mind. Joyce Meyer said, “Where
the mind goes, the man follows.” But it’s that old and corrupted mind. So what
do you do? You must put on the “mind of Christ”.
You must think like Christ. You will have to be intentional about what you
think. You won’t just sit there and permit negative and ungodly thought runs
through your mind. Your will have to bring into captivity every thought to the
obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).The Bible warns that we guard our
heart with all diligence. (Proverbs 4:23).
What to do:
Be intentional about what you think.
The word of God is the raw material for mind renewal. But “thinking” is just one
part of meditation. To meditate means more than thinking. It also involves
muttering or saying words to yourself as you think. As you meditate on God’s
word about your position as a new creation, you will mutter to yourself, “I am
sanctified and justified. I am forgiven and redeemed. I am in Christ, and the
Bible says in Romans chapter 8 verse 1, that "there is no condemnation to them
which are in Christ Jesus, who walk after the flesh; I walk after the Spirit”. You
would say to yourself, “I do not walk after the flesh; I walk after the Spirit. Because
I am led by the Spirit of God. I am a son of God”. Think and say to yourself, “I’m
dead to sin, and alive to righteousness. I walk in newness of life. I do not yield my
body as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but I yield myself unto God”.
You have to be intentional. This world is filled with many junks. You can just be
doing something innocent on your smartphone or laptop, and an erotic picture
pops up out of nowhere. You could click on a link and get redirected to a porn
site. Ladies used to walk half naked, until recently; they now walk almost
entirely naked. And if you don’t give your mind something pure to think about,
the devil will gladly help you something else. All the erotic scenes you saw
would play in your mind.
One reason while meditating on God’s word doesn’t yield much result for some
believers is the time they give to it! They barely meditate on the word for thirty
minutes, and spend two hours on a nollywood movie that could only pollute
minds.
Please note that mind renewal is a continuous process. You would never have
to stop it. The more you practice it, the more you become like Christ. Grace!
WORD FOR YOU // FRIDAY
MAY 14, 2021
What to do:
Have a time everyday, when you think and speak the
word of God to yourself. Be consistent with it!
FEAR IS A SIN
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and
murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and
all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire
and brimstone: which is the second death.
If you are usually fearful, watch it! That spirit is not from God. “For God hath not
given us the spirit of fear; but of power; and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2
Timothy1;7) .Fear is a spirit, so if you are living in fear, you may need to explain
where you got that spirit from The spirit of faith is the spirit of God as given us
as believers. “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed,
and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak”. (2 Corinthians
4:13).
Fear is a sin. John the beloved recorded how the fearful are among those that
will partake of the second death (Revelation 2:18). And remember, “Whatsoever
is not of faith is sin.” (Romans14:23b). 365 times, the Bible instructed; “Fear not!”
Why should you fear if you believe that God is with you? Fear is an expression
of unbelief and doubt, and nothing displeases God like unbelief. My pastor,
Pastor Wole Adedeji said, “The greatest pain you can inflict on God is to doubt
Him.” Without faith, it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6). And if you
are not pleasing God, you must be displeasing Him. The fearful will have their
part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone. (Revelation 21:8).
The word translated “fearful” there is the Greek word “Deilos”, and it is the same
word used in Mark4:40, “And he said unto them, why are ye so fearful? How is it
that ye have no faith?’
Choose to walk in faith, and not fear. Fear pleases the devil, while faith pleases
God. Who would you rather please?
WORD FOR YOU // SATURDAY
MAY 15, 2021
Declaration:
I walk by faith, not by sight. The word of God moves me, not
what's happening in the world. I have the spirit of faith,
power, love, and of sound mind. Glory to Jesus!
PERFECT LOVE
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear,
because fear has to do with punishment. The one who
fears is not made perfect in love.
I know why you are so fearful. It's because you've not fully understand God's
love for you. Yes, you've heard people say several times, "Jesus loves you." You
even confess that too. But you've never really grasp the extent or magnitude of
this love. Think about it; if you really know that the Creator of the whole
universe loves you so much, why would you be traveling and be afraid of car
accident? Why would you be going for a job interview, and be scared that you
won't get the appointments? It is because you don't know that God loves you so
much to make all things work together for your good. You don't know that He
loves you that He will keep you from all evil.
Anxiety and fear of tomorrow has filled your heart, because you have not grown
and mature in God's love. Guilt and low self-esteem is weighing you down,
because you don't know that God loves you. He is so in love with you. I mean
unconditional love. See, God does not love you more when you follow His
instructions, neither does He love you less when you err or commit sin. He loves
you nevertheless. Don't you get it? Even when we were sinners, God expressed
His love for us, and Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8). Jesus didn't die for saints;
He died for sinners! If He loves sinners so much, how could He not you who is
sanctified and justified?
Fear not! Jesus loves you too much to watch you fail. His plans for you are good,
and not evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). So because you are
born again now, you think your self-righteousness will make Him love you more,
and if you mess up, He will love you less. Come on!
Let the love of Christ fill your heart so much that fear has no room. When the
devil whispers fear of rejection, death, failure, or whatever, tell him that your
lover loves you too much to let them happen to you. You are Jesus' baby!
WORD FOR YOU // SUNDAY
MAY 16, 2021
Prayer:
Father I thank you for your unfailing and unconditional
love over me. Help me never to doubt your love.
Somebody was telling me about how it seems she was experiencing some delay
in her life. So I asked her, "Do you know Peninnah in the Bible? (Hannah's rival)"
she said yes. I asked her to tell me the names of her children. She said she can't
remember. She actually didn't know them not that she couldn't remember. I
don't know them either, and I bet you don't them too. I then ask if she knows
any of Hannah's children, and of course, everybody knows Samuel.
You see Peninnah was always mocking Hannah with her barren condition at
that time. Peninnah had children, Hannah had none. Hannah was praying. She
was fasting. She attended Shiloh every year, but no fruit of the womb. However,
when God answered, she gave birth to a mighty servant of God, a prophet and
a king maker- Samuel. None of this man's word fell to the ground
(1samuel3:19). Kings would tremble at his voice.
The mango tree produces fruit every year. Just like orange, cherry, banana and
the likes. They may be mocking cocoa tree or the palm tree for taking so long to
flower. However, when palm tree or the cocoa tree starts bringing forth fruits,
you can't compare the value. They are manufactured into different products.
They are exported far and near, as they suddenly become a global figure. I
agree with the person who said, "When it seems God is coming late, you will
become the latest." Selah!
WORD FOR YOU // MONDAY
MAY 17, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, turn every delay am
experiencing now into testimony.
God called Abraham His friend. What an honor! This wasn't a self-acclaimed
honor. It was Abraham who called himself God's friend. It was Good Himself
who called him friend. There's this song we sing. I love the song: “I am a friend
of God (3×), He calls me friend." We like honor you know? We like good things,
but they don't come by chance when you see someone achieve great things,
the next thing is not to cover what they have. Find out how they got there.
Nothing happens by chance or luck. Someone once said, 'When you see the
glory, find out the story." How did Abraham become a friend of God?
John 15:14, "Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." Jesus, who is
the express image of God, told us what it takes to becoming His friends:
obedience. If you do what Abraham did, you will get the results he got.
Abraham walked in obedience.
Genesis 12:1&4, "Now the Lord has said into Abram, get the out of the country, and
from the kindred, and from the father's house, unto a land that I will show the. So
Abram departed, as the Lord as spoken unto him..." In Genesis chapter 17, God
instructed Abram to circumcise every male child in his house. Abraham did not
only one, he obeyed that "Selfsame day" (verse 23). Prompt obedience!
God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac, whom he loves. "And
Abraham rose up early in the morning... And went unto the place which God had
told him." (Genesis 22:3). Crazy obedience! Imagine that! He rose up early in the
morning. Early! No second thought. And God called him His friend. Are you still
struggling to obey God's word? Obedience pays; disobedience costs. Obey
promptly!
WORD FOR YOU // TUESDAY
MAY 18, 2021
Declaration:
Father, in the name of Jesus, help me live worthy of Your
calling upon my life. (Ephesians 4:1)
Abraham believed God. This man had faith. Crazy faith! I used to ask myself,
"What was Abraham thinking when he was going to sacrifice his son?" The Bible
has the answer. Oh! I love my Bible. Hebrew 11:17 and 19, "By faith Abraham,
when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered
up his only begotten son... Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from
the dead! From when he also he received him in a figure." Abraham believed that
God can raise Isaac from the dead. There was no record of God raising anyone
from the dead as at that time, yet Abraham was ready to sacrifice his son. Isaac,
believing that God can raise him up again.
Did you notice the word "offered" used twice in verse 17 of that Hebrews 11?
That's a past tense. Read it again. You see that? Meaning that as far as
Abraham was concerned he had already offered Isaac in his heart. He believed
God, and it was accounted for him until righteousness, and God called him
friend.
Consequently, God began to confide in His friend Abraham. God couldn't hide
anything from him. "And the Lord said, shall I hide from Abraham that thing which
I do" (Genesis 18:17). Isn't that what Jesus said would happen when we become
friends by obeying Him? "Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servants
knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I
have heard of my Father I have made Known unto you" (John 15:15).
As a result of our obedience of faith, the spirit of God will then begin to share
divine secrets with us. We will have access to divine Revelations. God will say,
"How can I not tell my friend what am about to do in Lagos State?" "I need to tell
him about his cousin, lest the news hurt him." That's what happens when you
become a friend of God. Obedience of faith is key. Are you a friend of God?
WORD FOR YOU // WEDNESDAY
MAY 19, 2021
Reflection:
Are you walking in perfect obedience to God's will?
There is this illustration I like using when I talk about divine purpose. Listen!
Imagine you were asked to define the term "Psychology" in an examination. But
unfortunately you don't know the answer. However, you do know the definition
of "Philosophy." So then you defined Philosophy, and you defined it correctly.
The spellings of both words look similar. Now, will the examiner mark it for
you? Will he pass you because you defined the wrong question so well?
Definitely not.
God will not grade you on just anything you do. Be purpose conscious! Is there
not a cause? You are not here by accident. The word is not a playground. You
have an assignment here. If you fail, you won't be the real victim; destinies
would suffer. Enough of all this living for yourself. Wake up!
God has a purpose for you before you were born at all. You really think you are
here just to go to school, get married, have kids, then die someday? Life is more
than that. Don't just live, live fulfilled. If you know why you are here already,
then run with it tirelessly. And if you don't know yet, there is one person who
can tell you-all your Creator. Talk to Him. He's most likely been you already, and
you're probably not listening.
Why should you go to the market with a list, and come back without buying
anything? Why spend years in school and not get your certificate? Why live life
and not fulfill purpose? What a waste! There is a joy and sense of fulfillment
that comes with doing the assignment God has committed into your hands. It's
inexplicable. The greatest tragedy that could happen to mankind is for a man
to leave this world without even touching a page of his God-given assignment. I
must tell you however, that you cannot fulfill purpose outside Christ.
WORD FOR YOU // THURSDAY
MAY 20, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, give unto me the spirit of
wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. The eyes
of my understanding being enlightened; that I may know
what is the hope of Your calling, and the riches of the
glory of Your inheritance in the saints.
Most believers can quote this scripture of heart. And to certain extent, they
know what faith is, and why it is so important. But only few know that faith
cannot work without hope. Yesterday, we defined hope as a feeling of
expectation for a particular thing to happen. Since hope talks about our
expectation, it is important you know that without expectation, faith cannot
help you. Ultimately, faith is useless without hope.
I love the illustration my father Bishop David Oyedepo used in one of his books,
Exploits of faith. He wrote, “In human reproduction, the woman has the egg, but
without sperm fertilizing it, a child cannot be born, in the same vein, if hope is not
fertilized by faith, a miracle is never born.” Faith needs hope, and hope needs
faith. Hope expects; faith delivers. Hope believes that someday God will do it,
while faith says, “It’s not someday, it is today.” For faith is now, but hope is in the
future. Mrs. Hope says, “God will do it.” Mr. Faith says, “God has done it.”
Somebody says, “So what do I need; faith or hope?” Both! But hope must come
first for faith to be of any use. What you expect with hope, is what faith brings to
manifestation. So what are your expectations? What do you see yourself
becoming? You listen to some people talk, and you realize they’ve got no hope
for the future. They can’t see anyway things could work out for them, and there
is nothing faith can do to help, because they do not give faith anything to work
on. Faith, without hope is useless.
One the other hand, hope alone can’t help you without faith. There are people
who are just hoping that “one day he go better,” but they never really believed
that God will come through for them. They expect "something" to happen, but
they doubt it will ever happen. And because of their doubts or lack of faith, all
they will have is nothing. “For let not that man think he shall receive anything of the
Lord.” (James 1:7). How do we maintain the balance then?
WORD FOR YOU // FRIDAY
MAY 21, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, help me never to lose hope
and faith in you.
Now that we know that we need both faith and hope, let’s now look at how to
get these two raw materials of miracle. Get hope first, and where to get that is
in the word of God. The word of God births hope in us. God’s promises fill our
hearts with hope and assurance that our tomorrow will be great. When you
see how God turned Joseph a prisoner to a prime minister overnight. Or how
Jabez encountered supernatural turnaround. Or when you consider how
Sarah, who was old enough to be a great grandmother, had a child in her old
age, hope comes alive in you, and your expectation rises. You now need faith
to provoke your expectations into manifestation. How do you do this?
Confidently. Declare your hope. Give expression to it.
You are expecting the fruit of the womb; confess it everywhere. Boldly declare
that you are fruitful. Don’t care if people say you’ve lost your senses. Just keep
saying it. Then faith will come and fertilize your expectation, and boom!... Your
miracle child is here. Many people are afraid to voice out their expectation.
Some fear the people will label them unrealistic and unreasonable. But if you
will keep declaring what you want to see, it’s just a matter of time, it will
manifest.
You need to know that whatever is too big for your mouth to say will be too
big for your hand to handle. You’ve heard this message how many times? But
why have you not started practicing it. You are only cheating yourself. There
are people who are trusting God for marital breakthrough, but every morning,
when they want to make their declarations, they don’t want their neighbors to
hear, because they don’t want to look desperate. So they keep their voices
down, but when they are on call, everyone hears them. Hey! Boldly declare;
everyday!
WORD FOR YOU // SATURDAY
MAY 22, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, give me peace always by all means. (2
Thessalonians 3:16).
We shall begin to look at signs that a believer, particularly one that is not a
baby, may be backsliding. This is not to judge you, but to put you back on
track as soon as possible.
One sure sign is that your prayer life begins to go down. You used to pray
one hour daily, then it drops to forty minutes, then thirty minutes. You may
think it’s just because you are busy. Your academics, career, business, or new
job has just been so demanding. Then your prayer life drops to twenty
minutes or ten minutes. Or you probably just mutter some words of prayer
on your way to work. You may say, “God understands.” Yes, God understands
that you are too busy to talk to Him now. He understands that you are falling
gradually.
Prayer:
Father, baptize me with the spirit of prayer and
supplication in Jesus name.
The word of Christ dwelling in you is Christ Himself dwelling in you and you in
Him. The Bible does not just say we should let the word of Christ dwell in us,
but to dwell in us richly. Hey! If the word is not dwelling richly in you, you may
be straying in the world already. This is why the devil will do all it takes to
distract you from sitting with the Word of God. He doesn’t care so much how
many prayer meeting you attend, as long as you are not studying the word.
You may be in several service units in your local assembly, but as long as you
are not a student of the word, danger looms.
The word of God is the word of faith (Romans 10:8), and we are saved and
sustained by faith (Ephesians 2:8). It is not enough to be saved, it is even more
important to remain saved. And to remain saved, you must remain in God’s
word. It is the word of God that sanctifies us and keep us clean in this dirty
word. “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” (John
15:3). “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17). The book
of Ephesians 5:26 says, “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of
water by the Word.” So what happens when you don’t take regular washing or
bathe in the word of God? You stink! You get contaminated by the dirt and
filths of this world, and you may be backsliding already.
Please note that people can pray for you. The church, your pastor, your
parents or your friends can pray for you. But nobody can study the word of
God for you. You have the sole responsibility to study the Word yourself. Of
course you will need the help of anointed teachers, but you still have to sit at
their feet and learn. The devil does not go about stealing prayers, but he goes
about stealing the Word. The Word of God is the foundation and the pillar of
our faith. Don’t joke with!
WORD FOR YOU // MONDAY
MAY 24, 2021
Prayer:
Father in the name of Jesus, birth an hunger and thirst
for your word in my heart.
When going for church services is looking like a burden to you, or when it
seems like there are better things you can do with your time than going for
worship watch it! It’s a dangerous sign. Never be comfortable missing services.
Your attitude must always be like that of David: “I was glad when they said unto
me, let us go into the house of the Lord.” (Psalm 122:1). You may say, “But am
now the house of the Lord.” Yes, we are God’s temple, but that does not take the
place of Zion- the church. You and I are the body of Christ – the church. But
you need more than you for your spiritual growth and development, and to
sustain your salvation. You need the assembling of the brethren. Zion -the
church -is the general assembly (Hebrew 12:23). The writer of Hebrews sternly
instructed: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of
some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day
approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).
Don’t let the devil isolate you from the fellowship, for then he can easily hunt
you down. The church is our place of help and strength. (Psalms 20:2). “They go
from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.”
(Psalms 84:7). What if they stop appearing in Zion? Then they start growing
weak and weak. Before they know it, they are backsliding already.
Attending services was a lifestyle for the church. “And they continued steadfastly
in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship…” (Acts 2:42). Verse 46 says: “And they
continuing daily with one accord in the temple…” Continue I fellowship!
1 Corinthians 12:29; “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”
Ye are member of the body of Christ, and you need all the members. “But now
are the many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the
hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of
you.” (1 Corinthians 12:20-21) peace!
WORD FOR YOU // TUESDAY
MAY 25, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, strengthen me to keep
pressing towards the mark for the prize of the high
calling of Christ.
A believer could find himself doing some wrong things sometimes. However,
if these wrong doings become normal to him, then there is a big problem. A
genuine believer does not rejoice in iniquity. That would be walking out of
love, and to walk out of love, and to walk out of love is to walk outside the
Word of God. The Holy Spirit does not convict believers of sin. No, He will only
reprove the world of sin (John 16:8). It is our own regenerated spirit that
convict use of sin. Our born again spirit tells us when we do or go wrong. And
it is our responsibility to agree with our spirit. In fact to confess one’s sin
actually means you agree that what you did is wrong. So when your spirit
says, “You just told a lie.” You agree and say, “Yeah, that was a lie, I’m sorry Lord.
I won’t do that again.” You’ve just confessed your sin.
It’s a sure sign that you’re backsliding when you don’t agree that sin is sin.
When you fornicate, and you think it’s no big deal. When you call some lies
“white lies.” When you simply commit sin and you see nothing wrong with it.
Your conscience tells you, but you said, “Keep quiet.” If you don’t watch it, it
won’t be long before you backslide completely. That won’t be you! Receive the
grace to remain standing in the name of Jesus. You won’t miss it!
WORD FOR YOU // WEDNESDAY
MAY 26, 2021
Declaration:
GOD'S HERITAGE
Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the
fruit of the womb is his reward.
PSALM 127:3 (KJV)
Every word of God is worth paying attention to. So when some scripture starts
with "lo". or "behold", it means you need to pay attention, as there is something
you really need to see. The Bible says, "Behold, pay attention, see children are
blessings or gift from God". The reason you were able to give birth to children
was not because the male gamete fertilizes the female gamete during sexual
intercourse. No, it is because children are God's blessing: God chooses to bless
you with children. Did you see how the Psalmist began that Psalm 127, from
verse 1 now, "Except the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain that builds it:
except the Lord keep the city, the watchman maketh but in vain". Don't flatter
yourself. No matter what you think you are doing right; it is God who gives
children. Science can make effort but it will be in vain except the Lord -the baby
Maker gives.
"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth..." (Genesis 1:28a). If you are reading this and you are waiting
for the fruit of the womb, by my word, this time next year. You carry your own
children. You are hereby declared father and mother of children in the name of
Jesus.
Please note however, that because children are blessings from God, they
should be treated as such. When God entrust children into your hands, you'd
better take good care of them. Parenting is big responsibility, but sadly, there
are too many irresponsible parents. This precious. gift from God is to be
cherished, nurtured and brought up in the way of God. Find time for your
children. Pray for them. But if you hardly pray for yourself, how can you pray for
your children? The devil has always been interested in whatever belongs to
God, right from the time he coveted God's throne. So the devil wants to hijack
this God's blessings -children. You will have to stand in gap for them.
Children are like arrows in the hand of mighty man (Psalm 127:4). Don't let
these arrows fall into the hand of the devil. Raise them for Jesus. You won't fail
as parents! For our children, you will love and serve Jesus all the days of your
life. Increase greatly in the name of Jesus!
WORD FOR YOU // THURSDAY
MAY 27, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, keep all our children as
arrows in your hands. They will grow in strength, favour,
wisdom and stature. They will love and serve you all the
days of their lives.
Today, we won't be talking about our spiritual parents, but our biological
parents or. guardians. Almost all God's commandments come with promises.
However, the first commandment with promise is: "Honour thy father and the
mother..." (Exodus 20:12). The promises attached to it? One, it will be well with
you. Two, you will live long on earth.(Ephesians 6:3). Which of these two
promises don't you want? Respect your parents, don't despise them. I Know
our parents could provoke us at times. And when they are getting very old,
they could demand so much attention and care. Nevertheless, the Bible is
Clear on this, honor your parents. Provide and take care of them to the best of
your ability. You don't always have to agree with them. That's almost
impossible. But you can disagree with them politely. Make them happy. Let
them know they mean so much to you. It's a blessing to have your parents. If
you've ever lost one or both of your parents, you would agree that the void
they leave is almost irreplaceable. So if you still have them ( one or both),
honour them.
Despite to the pain of the cross, Jesus still loved His mother. He cared so much
that He couldn't leave her without handling her over to someone: "When Jesus
therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he said
unto his mother, woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy
mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home." (John
19:26-27) Peace!

WORD FOR YOU // SUNDAY
MAY 30, 2021
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, engrace me with
zeal for tireless service in Kingdom advancement
endeavours. Psalm 69:9, John 2:17.
Don't just speak the truth; speak the truth in love. You don't have to hurt
anyone with your words in the name of being sincere. As believers, love must
be the motivating factor behind all we do or say. You can correct someone
without damaging their self-esteem or self-confidence. Don't, "I will tell her the
truth. She may not greet me tomorrow: I don't care!" Or "I could tell that what I
told him pained him. He probably won't get any sleep tonight. The truth is bitter
anyways". No, you can't be like that. Speak the truth in love.
Colossians 4:6, "Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye
may know how ye ought to answer every man."
Let what comes out of your mouth only be gracious words; seasoned with salt.
When something is seasoned with salt, it comes out sweet right? The truth can
be sweet. Make a decision that you won't hurt with your words.
I used to be so blunt, so blunt that I never mind how the person feels. But now
the Holy Ghost has worked in me, and still working in me, that I process my
words. I believe this is one of the reasons why the Bible says we should be
slow to speak (James1:19). Take your time before talking. Process your speech.
Speak in love. Let me show you a scripture.
John 1:17, "For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came
through Jesus Christ."
Prayer:
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank you for the
help I enjoyed all through the month of May.
