= Patient was prescribed pseudoephedrine and phenylephrine 240mg/24h
PO. The patient have phenylephrine allergy ( this was stated on drug
chart). This was noted by the pharmacist and the patient didn't take any
phenylephrine. The team PRHO was contacted and an alternative
antibiotic was prescribed.

B. Watch the video that i gave, then answer the following question
based on the information you got in the video! Here are the
questions :

1) Where do antibiotics come from?


= Antibiotics come from natural sources such as fungi, who use them in their
battle against bacteria out in the environment. Scientists take these
molecules and use them to help battle infection in people.

2) What are some types of bacteria ?


= There are good and bad bacteria.

3) What is microbiome ?
= Everyone has something called a microbiome. Our microbiome is a
collection of bacteria that live inside our bodies. A healthy and strong
microbiome is one that has many different kinds of good bacteria that
protects us from getting sick. So, it's important that we keep these good
bacteria.

4) When do we need antibiotics ?


= The bad bacteria can get in and cause problems. This is why you've been
prescribed antibiotics. Antibiotics can come in the form of tablets, pills or
intravenous fluids.
5) What is meant by targeted and broad antibiotics ?
= There's no antibiotics considered weak or strong. Antibiotics are either
"Targeted" or "Broad". Sometimes, when you're sick, your healthcare
provide knows exactly what bacteria is causing your sickness. In times like
this, a targeted antibiotics is prescribed. These types of antibiotics
primary kill the harmful bacteria causing your illness. But, sometimes your
healthcare provider may not know exactly what is causing your illnes. If
your healthcare provider suspects it could be a bacterial infection, a
broad antibiotics is prescribed. Unfortunately, whichever kind of
antibiotic you receive, the goood bacteria in our microbiome may be
affected. Butm broad antibiotics usually affect more of our microbiome.

6) How to find the best antibiotics ?


= To find the best antibiotics, it's important that your healthcare provider
knows what you're allergic to and other medication you may be taking.

7) What are allergic reactions ?


= - Lip, throat and eye swelling
- Low blood pressure
- Skin rashes

8) Is it important to know difficile infection ?


= Yes, Because C. difficile infection is an illness that occurs in hospital
instituations and patients who are on or have had antibiotic treatment.

9) What important question should we ask to the doctor when the doctor
prescribes antibiotics for us ?
= - Why am i being prescribed an antibiotic ?
- How should i take my antibiotics and for how long ?
- How Will i know if my antibiotics are working, and what side effects
should i watch for ?
- Do i need any tests and when do i book my next visit ?
