NAVIGAT 2200 5023-0125-02/A
1: Introduction
This service manual gives all the information for the software update of
the NAVIGAT 2200 Fiber-Optic Gyrocompass and Attitude Reference
System.
Note Sperry Marine recommends to install and execute the terminal program
on the PC/Notebook prior to service as preparation, before entering the
vessel and undertaking the software update procedure of the NAVIGAT
2200 sensor.
Note If the PC/Notebook does not have a serial interface, an external USB-
RS232-port and USB cable are needed to install a running RS232-inter-
face via the USB interface of the PC/Notebook (example shown in
Figure 1-1).

Note If an error occurs during the software update, the procedure has to be
repeated.
If the error persists, the NAVIGAT 2200 upgrade kit has to be replaced and
the complete procedure must be started anew.
2.1 Preparation
Identify the stock no., revision, type and serial no. of the NAVIGAT 2200
and record all the information into the NAVIGAT 2200 software update
test protocol 5023-0125-03 in the appendix.
Check the housing of the NAVIGAT 2200 for visual damage and record
the result into the NAVIGAT 2200 software update test protocol.
Note Make sure that the NAVIGAT 2200 upgrade kit, stock no. 025974-0000-
000, and a PC/Notebook with a CD drive and serial interface (RS232) /
USB-RS232-port are at place before starting the software update proce-
dure.
Preparation 2-1
