My name is Aubrey O’Barr.

I am currently an eleventh grade student at

Olentangy High School. I am taking Teacher Academy at my high school. I decided to

take this class because I love to help others. When I was younger, I wanted to be a

doctor. I would help my siblings whenever they got hurt. Two years ago, we learned that

my little sister has ADHD and dyslexia. I often help her with her homework and have

seen her struggle in school. She didn’t have a lot of support at school so we worked

together a lot at home. Her middle school now provides more resources. I wanted her to

succeed and wished that her teachers would help her better. I took Teacher Academy

because I want to impact students, whether they have a learning disability or not. I want

to become an intervention teacher so I can help students like my sister succeed and

overcome their struggles. Outside of school, I am very invested in my music. I play the

flute, piano and viola. I also help at an elementary school with their orchestra program. I

also love to spend time hiking or reading. I am currently looking at attending Brigham

Young University in Utah. I would like to major in secondary education or intervention.
