SESS-115 Comparative Government and Politics

MODULE 3 – Activity
1. What would happen if the President of the Philippines got all the “powers” of the
branches of government? Explain
Government is composed of different branches and institutions that has its own
power to govern its sectors. Basically, the President power can only on his/her
jurisdiction without having intervention to the other branches of the government sector.
When the President got all the powers of the branches of the government, definitely every
system of the branches was being controlled by the President. It will depend on his
decisions on how these branches work as well as he could change the regulation whatever
he wants. The system of government possibly will lose its freedom, rights, and separation
because the President could absolutely rule every sector of the government. The President
will create a controlled state power wherein the country will have a dictator leader that
will no longer a democratic-republic government.

B. Aside from Impeachment, what do you think is the 3 most powerful checks on the
power of the Executive. Explain.
For my point of view the 3 most powerful checks on the power of the Executive
are, Public Opinion, Investigative Media, and Economic Problems. The Public Opinion
as we all know these are the surveys and poll every year of administration of the
executive branch wherein it affects the governance of a leader. It could affect the trust of
people and their admiration for you because they will think that you’re not good enough
to lead the country as well as it proves that the administration is totally failure and that
will lead to downfall. The Investigative Media, the Executive must have a good and great
background that has no misconduct in the past as well in the current situation. Media is a
powerful source especially in this era where they could search your past in a single click
in your mobile phone or computer. Investigative media could find anything and reveal
anything about your life specifically the people in the politics and it become a
controversial that will give other problems to your administration that every branches of
the government will be asked you until you get out on leading the nation. Economic
Luisa D. Aspiras BSE Social Studies 3-A December 9, 2020

Problems, the executive branch is designated to solve the economic issues in the country
wherein if there’s an inflation and low rate of income he will solve it by central economic
planning. Executive branch should handle the system of economy of the state that’s why
economic problems will give a fear for the administration to exercise his power in a
concrete planning. If the country will fail on economy how much more on the lives of the
people who trust the leader that could help them to sustain their life by having a good
price of products and services. Therefore, it has something to do also on being
accountable for the economic aspect of the country, executive is affected if the economic
problems become inevitable and he couldn’t think a plan to resolved it.

C. If you became the President of the Philippines, how can you make the country better?
Explain.
If I will become a President of the Philippines, first I will designate the most
trusted person and aligned their profession to the department they will handle not like an
army then designated in environmental resources department. I will always advance my
plan for every problem that will came in my administration, for instance there’s an
agricultural problem in the nueva ecija I will advance allocating the budget for that before
its happened.
I will hear the voices of people in the far-flung area as well as the condition of their way
of living, and by assigning some people who are aligned with the sector or committee that
I will give them enable to have a good handling the people and the problems in that
sector.
Since, our country is rich with land and water resources that good in agriculture and
fisheries, I will support every small farmer in the whole country give them a tools and
equipment for farming and fishing that become a good for the economy in terms of
exports product. I will provide a loan for the people who wanted to study abroad or in the
country for the bachelor, master, and doctorate degree as well as to the people who want
to build a business. Offer inclusive job whatever you are (PWD, LGBTQA+,) that would
fit on your passion or creation local and international job opportunities. Also, the
monitoring of drugs, and crime in our country as well the officials that abuse their power.
The budget will always monitor as well as the officials SALN monitoring. Give a high
salary for the teachers and other government workers as well as to monitor those private
company employees’ salaries should increase it also.

C. If you became a senator, what law would you pass to help the country? Explain.
If I became a senator, I want to pass a law that allowing to make discount for the
18+ years old Filipino business owner in registering their brand or product to DTI and FDA.
Luisa D. Aspiras BSE Social Studies 3-A December 9, 2020

It could help them to lessen their expenses and provide a certificate for their product that will
allowed to sell in the market. By this law the government helps the young Filipino business
owners to improved their products until it became a big business in that case our country will
have a young business minded Filipino that the Philippine government make proud about
them as well as in the economy of the country. By that the other young Filipino probably be
inspired for others until its like a dynamic of the Filipino young who wanted to be a
successful business owner and helps the economy of the Philippines.

B. If you became the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, how would you solve the problem in
the justice system in the country, specifically the delay in the system? Explain.
Luisa D. Aspiras BSE Social Studies 3-A December 9, 2020

If I became the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and how I solved the problems in the
justice system. As a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, you must know how the justice system
works, I will designate a right people for the organizing of cases and monitoring each member of
the Philippine Court System. I will set some guidelines in classification of cases according on
social status because sometimes the elite people are the one who got case closed. The system
must organize respectively and first-case-first-serve it means there’s no next appointment or
scheduled it by the other date, if the case is scheduled in specific it should proceed immediately.
I’ll give sanctions for the judges who deal with monkey-business and the judges who are lazy to
read the cases. I will designate every part of the Philippine court system correctly and give them
a daily agenda for the better systematic and organize way of handling and processing the cases
who needs to be done immediately.
