I do my best to make sure that I adhere to all of the expectations placed on
teachers. I I consult with my administration and colleagues when I am unsure or
want a greater clarification of areas I need growth in. I review all necessary
student information (demographic, IEP’s/504’s, CELDT data) to create a learning
environment that includes everyone. I take passive measures to promote a positive
learning environment (classroom posters, signs,) as well as active measures such
as intervening in student behavior when needed. I have had one case that a
student revealed they had been abused as a child and I took the necessary
mandated reporter steps to report that abuse. I act with integrity on a daily basis
by never revealing sensitive information about students with others that do not
need to know and communicating with parents to enable a students’ success in my
classroom. I also try to speak in inclusive language and demonstrate that I respect

school administration to promote new and current
teaching strategies. For example, after my current ILP
I had a conversation with my department leaders
about the importance of goal-setting and progress
monitoring in the classroom. I also recently sat on the
school culture and climate committee to review our
climate and culture, examine the data, and propose
changes to improve our climate and culture. One of
the things we noticed is that our students state that
they have too many tests a day so we are going to
experiment with creating a testing schedule to rotate

I continue to conduct my professional responsibilities
in an ethical, moral, and responsible manner. During
the recent COVID pandemic I have been vocal about
the need to ensure equity in our virtual classrooms. I
have worked with others to create more equitable
practices such as creating more accessible
assignments, reminding others that not all students
have internet access, and informing students about
resources they have to ensure they are able to access
the internet. In addition, I continue to advocate for
better mental health programs and resources for our
students. Even before the pandemic this was a
serious issue that has affected many of our students. I
have worked with students and staff in trying to get
the word out. For example, as my role as the adviser
for the student newspaper, I encouraged the staff to
publish information about the resources our district
has made available for students. I have also made the
necessary actions taken for students who may need
an intervention or more support.

In addition, I hold myself to the highest ethical

standards as a teacher. I actively take steps to treat all
students and staff with respect, follow all laws and
rules, and model appropriate behavior. 11/28/20
