Counselors
First and foremost, counselors need to be aware that no two
people are alike
No two people understand the same language in the same way; their understanding
will always be linked to their personal experience of the world. The role of the
counselor, therefore, is to HELP THE CLIENT TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN
UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR SITUATION.

Psychologist
Differences
Psychiatrist are medical doctors, psychologists are not.
Psychiatrists prescribe medication, psychologists can't.
Psychiatrists diagnose illness, manage treatment and
provide range of therapies for complex and serious
mental ilness. Psychologists focus on providing
psychotherapy (talk therapy) to help patients/clients.
Psychiatrist
Correctional Facilities
Correctional Psychologists provide individual and group
therapy for individual who are jailed, or living in a correctional
facility.
They help these people get their lives back on track and
prevent them from commiting further crimes.

Rehabilitation Centers
Rehabilitation Psychologists help disabled patients adapt to
living with disability by developing treatment plans to increase
independence.
They help clients manage and overcome the effects of the daily
obstacles of their disabilities personally, socially, and
psychologically.
Industrial Setting
Industrial psychologist observe and evaluate human
behavior and interactions in the workplace and provide
guidance and recommendations to improve human and
organizational effieciency.
Employment testing and selection.

Private Sector
Psychologist specifically those with PhD in counseling run their
own practice as well as counseling clients.
They concentrates on a particular area of specialization.
