Travel Report

Recreational School Trips to the different places within Southern Leyte has become a
tradition in the Junior and Senior High School department of Southern Leyte State University. It
was attended by the Grade 12 students where they not only learned a lot but also got some
exposure and hands-on experience. The main purpose of the trip was to explore and appreciate
the beauty of our province, as well as the different cultures of the people living across the land.

Last January, our class went to some towns in Southern Leyte, to explore some towns
within the province and visit some of its environmental tourist spots to identify the strength,
weaknesses, and opportunities of the province in relation to tourism, and to propose
recommendations and a way forward for future trips.

Our province is truly a hidden paradise of the Visayas, we are blessed that most of our
natural resources and sights are untouched by man. But it would be beneficial for our province’s
economy and tourism if these will be utilized by the LGUs. I’m thankful to our school for giving
us this opportunity, I hope they will continue this annual educational activity for future Grade 12
students.
Fern’s Farm in Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte offers an overlooking view of the Pacific-Panaon
Islands of the province. You can also buy pineapple slices and the area has a park where
everyone can do recreational activities. It is not just perfect for friends but also for families.

The hike to the top can get difficult but in the end, green scenery will welcome you. Simple yet
satisfying, it’s not just your body, but your mind and soul will be benefited also. We must
preserve this nature for the coming generation.
